Web Forms :: That Assembly Does Not Allow Partially Trusted Callers forums.asp.net

Both project's have AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers in their respective AssemblyInfo.cs file. The aptca switch was used to generate the precompiled assembly. The Web Part works fine if I remove the ASP.usercontrol_ascx object from the Web Parts CreateChildControls

Custom Web UserControl (vs2008 C#) - "not A Known Element" When Placed? forums.asp.net

I created (vs2008 C#) an "asp.net web server control" project. I then remove the default .cs and replace it with an "asp.net web server control" cs file which has a default name of WebCustomControl1.cs. I named the project CCContainer and renamed the .cs file as CCContainerA.cs, so the class name is CCContainerA. I then create a new (VS2008 C#) web application in which I add my custom control. After compiling CCContainer to CCContainerA.dll I create a reference to this dll in the web app, and add CCContainerA.dll to my web app's toolbox. When I drag my custom control to the webform I automaticall get this directive line: [code] [Code]

Visual Studio :: Incorrect Type Generated With User Controls Registered In Web.config? forums.asp.net

When we register our User Controls in web.config instead of on the page, we found the type is generated as System.Web.UI.UserControl instead of the type of the actual user control. Here are the steps to reproduce this problem: 1) Create a new Web Site 2) Create a folder called Controls and add a user control to this folder (e.g., WebUserControl.ascx) 3) Add a web.config to the site 4) Add the control registration to the web.config. E.g.: <pages> <controls> <add tagPrefix="test" tagName="WebUserControl" src="~/Controls/WebUserControl.ascx"/> </controls> </pages> 5) Add an instance of the user control to default.aspx: <test:WebUserControl runat="server" ID="test" /> 6) Add a Web Application Project to the solution. Delete default.aspx and web.config from the new project. Copy the Controls folder, Default.aspx, and web.config to the new project. 7) Right click on the new Web Application project and select "Convert To Web Application" 8) Take a look at Default.aspx.designer.cs. We expect to see: protected Controls_WebUserControl test; But instead we get: protected System.Web.UI.UserControl test; Let's try moving the control registration to the page itself. 9) Remove the "pages" section from the web.config 10) Add the control registration to default.aspx: <%@ Register TagPrefix="test" TagName="WebUserControl" Src="~/Controls/WebUserControl.ascx" %> 11) Delete Default.aspx.designer.cs. Right click Default.aspx and select "Convert to Web Application" 12) Take a look at Default.aspx.designer.cs. We get what we expected: protected Controls_WebUserControl test123; So basically whenever we register controls in our web.config, we get the wrong type in the .designer.cs file. In our project we have a number of commonly used controls registered in web.config so unless there is a workaround or fix, we cannot use WAP. I should mention that I tried many different variations on the path for the src attribute ("/", "~/", "./", etc).

Visual Studio :: Generation Of Designer File Failed: Unknown Server Tag 'asp:WebPartManager' forums.asp.net

I recently rebuilt an application using the new Web Application Project in Visual Studio (rather than the previous Web Site Project). I am using the January Futures CTP of Ajax and Webparts, (not to do anything with Ajax yet, just to fix drag and drop across browsers). A Web Application Project creates .designer.cs files for all of your aspx pages. I am getting a warning on pages that contain an asp:WebPartManager or asp:WebPartZone control: [Code].... Now if I try to add other controls to that page, Visual Studio can't update the .designer.cs file for that page and I end up with errors. I have seen many posts about correctly remapping web.config to use the Microsoft.Web.Preview assembly, and that does not seem to be my problem. I have that set up as recommended and my code executes fine until I try to add new controls to my page. I have moved the Microsoft.Web.Preview.dll to my bin and added a reference.

No Automation Like Selection Of The Controls And Selection Of Related Events? forums.asp.net

Being a VB programmer, event handling had been straight forward. Open the code file and you can see all the controls in the left dropdown and all the related events on the right dropdown. ASP.Net with C# is something different. For example, I have raised Button_click event on "onclick" HTML event of a button. Now,I go to my aspx.cs file then do I have to write the whole function definition code by my self? I mean to ask is that does everything have to be handwritten? No automation like selection of the controls and selection of related events. I mean I want to understand the difference between the way event handling is done in a simple Vb desktop application and asp.net web application with web server controls invloved.

Custom Server Controls :: Create C# Controls On Server Side For Posted Data That Had No Runat=server forums.asp.net

HOWTO create ASP.NET C# controls on server side for posted data that had no runat=server on the client. I have processes needing to post files to a ASP.NET application. These processes must post without runat=server as such: <form ~~~~ to some ASP.NET/C#/aspx page> <input type=file name=MY_FILE ~~~> </form> On the ASP.NET page, in the Page_Load I would code somethign like this: [URL] Here is the trick, the control "fileLIST_FILE" does not exist because the HTML does not have runat=server on it. If the client did have runat=server the designer.cs would have somethign liek this: System.Web.UI.HtmlControls.HtmlInputFile fileLIST_FILE; With all that said, I want to make "fileLIST_FILE" on the fly inside Page_Load fromt he posted name of "MY_FILE". do not focus on the fact that this is a file upload. Include Static Html In Mvc App That Doesn't Use The System Css But It's Own Styling? stackoverflow.com

I am using ASP.NET MVC 2 & C#. I want to include/embed an html page (raw text & styling; no forms) in one of my views as is without my own css styling (read: The site.css styles for the ASP.NET MVC 2 application itself) affecting it. I can access the page statically and open it in a new window and it retains it's styling; however, if I do: <asp:Content ID="loginContent" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server"> <!--#include virtual="~StaticInstructions.htm" --> </asp:Content> The styling from the html & the site.css in the web application seem to get merged. I've added the following ignore route entries as well: routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.html/{*pathInfo}"); I also tried making a partial view control with the raw html in it and rendering that here. That gives the exact same results as this.

Specifying Relative File Location In Web.config For Use By Standard C# Class Library? stackoverflow.com

I'm struggling to find a way of specifying a file location in web.config appSettings that avoids using hard-coded paths but allows a non-'web aware' C# library to find a file. The C# library uses standard File.Open, File.Exists methods, etc. to operate on a data file, which is stored in my web application (ASP.NET MVC) tree, e.g. under: contentdataMyDataFile.txt Requirements: I want to be able to specify my path like, e.g.: <appSettings> this--> <add key="MyFileLocation" value="~contentdataMyDataFile.txt" /> not --> <add key="MyFileLocation" value="c:inetpubwwwrootfoocontentdataMyDataFile.txt" /> </appSettings> I don't want the C# library to be aware of the web application it's being used in, as it is used in other software, and the web application has no need to know about the configuration of the C# library.

C# - Server.transfer Causing HttpException stackoverflow.com

I am developing a C#/SQL ASP.NET web application in VS 2008. Currently I am using the Server.Transfer method to transfer control from one ASPX.CS file to another ASPX file. The first time through, this works. But after control is transferred to this new file it encounters a condition: if (restart == false) { where "restart" is a boolean variable. After this statement it immediately transfers control back to the same ASPX.CS file and tries to reexecute the Server.Transfer method. This time it gives me the following exception and stack trace. Do you know what is causing this? I tried to read this but it didn't make much sense to me. Security :: Membership Database Not Getting Auto-Added To App_Data? forums.asp.net

I am using C# Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Express 2005. When I create a Website in VS2008 (File->New->Website...), then I add membership via the Web Site Administration Tool by creating a couple of roles and users; a database is then created physically in the App_Data folder and in the Solution Explorer, I see a plus sign after refreshing it and the database is shown. And this is now my problem: when I create a new ASP.Net Web Application (which is what I want, File->New->Project...->ASP.Net Web Application) and then I add the membership, the physical database is created, but I do not see it in the App_Data folder of my Solution Explorer, and manually adding it by right-click->add existing item, then pointing to the existing aspnetdb.mdf file in the App_Data folder doesn't work, because it gets added with an yellow exclamation warning, and I cannot access the DB. how to add membership to a VS2008 Asp.Net Web Application correctly, where I can add the aspnetdb.mdf to the App_Data folder in the Solution Explorer

How To Migrate From BuildProvider To Web Application Project stackoverflow.com

Currently we have a bunch of web sites (web site projects) that I think should be converted to web application projects. Everybody agrees. But a number of custom BuildProviders are used to generate controls and unfortunately MSDN says that Adding a customized BuildProvider class to the Web.config file works in an ASP.NET Web site but does not work in an ASP.NET Web application project Are there some ways to migrate though without full discarding of custom BuildProviders mechanism?

Html - Rendering Of .net Controls? stackoverflow.com

I find it hard when using asp.net controls, to make proper css files because I don't know what the html output for the different controls end up as. For example, if I want to add a div tag using a asp.net control, it's not easy to know what kind of control I can use. Are there any documentation that shows for each asp.net control, what the rendered html for that control will be? I understand that some controls will probably change it's output due to how it's configured, but most controls will at least follow a pattern here. The best would of course be a service on the web where you can put in the asp.net control definition and get the rendered html out. Currently I have to put a control into my webform, run it and check the source in the browser, and if it's not the correct html tag, try another control and repeat. That get's tedious quite fast.

Web Forms :: Error In Web Form / Using A Custom User Control Which Is Compiled Into A Single Assembly forums.asp.net

I am having a very hard time in consuming a very simple web user control that I have built using a Web Application project in VS 2010. The user control works fine as long as the consuming aspx page is in the same project. But after deploying the project using Web Deployment Project into a single assembly I am not able to use it correctly from another aspx page which is in a stand-alone project. The error I see is a null reference exception. Here are the steps that I am following: 1 Create a web user control named WebUserControl_Label using a web application project. This control works fine when used in an webform in the same project. This is the ASCX of my user control : <%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="WebUserControl_Label.ascx.cs" Inherits="TestWebAppWithCustomControl.WebUserControl_Label" ClassName="TestWebAppWithCustomControl.Controls" %> <asp:Label ID="Label1" runat="server" ></asp:Label> This is the code behind: namespace TestWebAppWithCustomControl { public partial class WebUserControl_Label : System.Web.UI.UserControl { private string _labelText; public string LabelText { set { Label1.Text = value; } get { return Label1.Text; } } protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { } } } 2. Create a single assembly for the user control above using a Web Deployment project. The name of the assemby is TestWebAppWithCustomControl. 3. Create a webform in another web application project to use WebUserControl_Label user control. This project has TestWebAppWithCustomControl.dll added as a referemce. This is how I am using the custom control above in an aspx page: <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="ConsumeTestWebAppUserControl._Default" %> <%@ Register Assembly="TestWebAppWithCustomControl" Namespace="TestWebAppWithCustomControl" TagPrefix="GBS" %> <head runat="server"> <title></title> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <GBS:WebUserControl_Label Id="label1" runat="server" LabelText="This is custom label" /> </div> </form> </body> </html> The problem is that .NET throws a Null Reference Exception when its trying to set the label text via the LabelText property. It looks like that the label control that lives inside the WebUserControl_Label user control is not getting instantiated and is always null. I have found a few articles online that talk about creating such distributable user controls using ASP.NET website projects. But if possible I would like to stick with the web application project because of the benefits it brings.

Web Forms :: How A Page Is Posted Back To Server When Press A Button forums.asp.net

Whatever server Control we take on aspx page while in coding phase, all those controls are converted to html controls through the asp.net engine and sent to the requesting web browser. That's fine. How To Handle Mouse Hover Event In Webbrowser social.msdn.microsoft.com

Control Does Not Exist In The Current Context? bytes.com

I have just copied the files from an "ASP .NET Web Site" to an "ASP .NET Web Application" because i have learned about the differences and have decided to move to the latter. I simply copied and pasted all the .aspx (with respective .aspx.cs code-behind files) and some other files such as scripts etc into the "Web Application". I have also added the same references to class libraries I had in the "Web Site". When I come to compile the "Web Application", I get errors saying that controls "cannot be found in the current context". I did not get these errors in the "Web Site" and the common problem apparently is that there are backup files or duplicate partial classes, which i'm certain is not the case for me... One example is that I have an ASP:PlaceHolder in header.aspx as follows... <asp:Placeholder runat="server" ID="headermenuholder"> ...but i get the error "The name 'headermenuholder' does not exist in the current context"

Opening / Manipulate A Java Web App In .NET stackoverflow.com

I use a Java web app (app/screenshot, you'd need to sign up, but it's just a java web app), however I'd like to automate its functionality inside of a .NET application (C# or VB, doesn't matter, I'd prefer C#). I've tried searching but unfortunately "Java web" and ".NET" and "C#" etc, don't return me anything even remotely useful. Is it possible to load the page within a control (or through some other way) within a .NET application, and thus act upon the display itself (the data flow will be encrypted, since it's https - so I don't know if I'd be able to read the data coming to and from the java application, I assume not, but being able to read the application would be nice), to be able to select areas, click, read/input numbers and text, etc. I realize this is a pretty broad question, but, it'd be very helpful if someone could offer some advice/insight into this problem. edit to add: I guess a better question would have been either "Ways to interact with a java web-start app with windows apis?" or "Possible to contain a java web-start app within a .NET app, and interact directly with components of the web app". I'm also wondering if it will be possible to load it into a browser in a form in .NET, although I assume that it would just launch web-start taking it out of the forms control.

Ajaxcontroltoolkit - Ajax Toolkit AsyncFileUpload - "The File Is Attached Is Invalid" Error stackoverflow.com

I'm trying to use the AsyncFileUpload control from the Asp.net Ajax Control Toolkit (Sept 30, 2009 stable build: 30930) . I've created a demo application and the control works fine. Files upload and all is well. When I try to use the control in my real application, I'm always receiving an error stating "The file attached is invalid". The AsyncFileUpload control returns this when the file uploaded is null. To isolate the problem, I created a new master page exactly like the master page in my demo app. I also created an aspx page exactly like the page in my demo app. The upload still fails with a "The file attached is invalid" error. I also compared the web.config for the real app and the demo app and couldn't identify any differences that should matter. The code below is the test code in my real app. This code is exactly the same as the functioning code in the demo app with the exception of having different class names and file names. The web.config listed below is from the real app with the appsettings and connectionstrings removed. How To Consume JSON From A Web Service stackoverflow.com

We have a web application providing a service using a simple REST interface (GET/POST methods) and returning results in JSON format. A client wants to use the service from an ASP application (I assume ASP.NET) and asks for example code. Is there any standard/widely-acceptable procedure for consuming JSON based web services from an ASP.NET application? I'm not familiar with the .NET framework, but can work my way through C#.

Visual Studio :: Adding AJAX Toolkit Controls? forums.asp.net

My group has been working on Visual Basic Web application for a very long time. Everytime a new Visual Studio Release comes out we upgraded this application to the current release of visual studio and ASP.NET. Right now we have this application working in visual studio 8 and ASP.NET 2.0. Recently I downloaded the AJAX tool kit to my system.I was successful loading the AJAX tool kit controls to a newly created ASP.NET Web Application and performed some experiments developing Web pages using AJAX.Now I want perform experiments that test the AJAX script manager to this old application. When I clicked on the visual studio 8 project file to this application the AJAX Extenter Controls and the AJX Toolkit controls are not listed in the visual studio toolkit. In fact the Visual Studio Control Tool kit does not show the tabs where the AJAX Extender and AJAX toolkit controls were loaded. I tried to add a new AJAX Extender and AJAX Toolkit Tab Pages to the Visualo Studio web control toolkit but visua studio reports back that the AJAX Extender and AJAX Toolkit tab Pages are loaded. However these tab pages are not displayed in the Visual Studio Tool Kit To add AJAX Extender and Toolkit tab pages I must click the Choose Items application and press the reset button on the Choose Items Dialog Box. After this action I can add the Ajax Extender and AJAX Toolkit Control Tab Pages to the Visual studio Control Toolkit. However I cannot add AJAX Extender controls found in the System.Web.Ajax.dll file into the toolkit. After I select the System.Web.Ajax.dll file and press the choose Item OK button none of the controls foun in the System.Web.Ajax.dll file. Same is true with the controls found in the AJAXControlToolkit.dll file too

Add Custom User Control To Published Web Project stackoverflow.com

I have a published web project. I want to add some .ascx files (with .cs & designer.cs files) to that published web site. These are simple custom user controls that access methods already part of the original application. Question? Is it possible to just drop these in the published web project without building the entire solution? If not why? When I drop these files in and run my application I get the error: "Parse Error: Could not load type 'the name of my custom controls namespace'". There is not a lot of code to show so this is all I have. Default.aspx <%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/MasterPages/TwoColumn.master" AutoEventWireup="true" Inherits="ApplicationName.Web.Default" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.cs" %> <%@ Register TagPrefix="uc1" TagName="CustomControl" Src="~/Controls/Custom/CustomControl.ascx" %> <asp:Content ID="content" contentplaceholder="cph" runat="Server"> <uc1:CustomControl ID="cc1" runat="server" CustomProperty="Hello World" /> </asp:Content> CustomControl.ascx <%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="CustomControl.ascx.cs" Inherits="ApplicationName.Web.Controls.Custom.CustomControl" %> <asp:PlaceHolder ID="ph1" runat="server></asp:PlaceHolder> CustomControl.ascx.cs using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.IO; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; namespace ApplicationName.Web.Controls.Custom { public partial class CustomControl : System.Web.UI.UserControl { ///My logic } } Again it seems so easy. What am I missing? Or is this not possible?
