Data-driven Subscription - Invalid Parameter? social.msdn.microsoft.com

New Title In Thread : Error/bug In ASMX ? - Parameters And Toolbar Property In DevInfo social.msdn.microsoft.com

Hi all, I am trying to build a reportviewer so that I could use reporting services (due to company's security policy). I am getting a VERY weird error here. Before I get on ahead, here is the scenario. I had created a rdl that will give a certain report based on two parameters. At the moment, I didn't assign the parameters to any default values since i don't want the report to start running. These two parameters are run based on stored procedures to get the starting date and an ending date. I had tried to view this report on Report Manager and it works. I had set the parameters this way. NOTE: ReportingServer is the disgused name of the reportserver I am using for privacy purposes Code Snippet Dim rs As New ReportingServer.ReportingService rs.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials 'Render arguments Dim results() As Byte Dim format As String = "HTML4.0" Dim historyID As String = Nothing 'PDF Rendering extensions don't have any useful DeviceInfo settings 'the toolbar shown below only affects HTML rendering Dim devInfo As String = "<DeviceInfo><HTMLFragment>True</HTMLFragment><JavaScript>True</JavaScript><Toolbar>True</Toolbar><Parameters>True</Parameters></DeviceInfo>" Dim credentials() As ReportingServer.DataSourceCredentials = New ReportingServer.DataSourceCredentials() {} Dim showHideToggle As String = "" Dim encoding As String = "" Dim mimeType As String = "" Dim warnings() As ReportingServer.Warning = New ReportingServer.Warning(0) {} Dim reportHistoryParameters() As ReportingServer.ParameterValue = New ReportingServer.ParameterValue() {} Dim streamIDs() As String = Nothing Dim sh As ReportingServer.SessionHeader = New ReportingServer.SessionHeader rs.SessionHeaderValue = sh But when I started building this reportviewer.aspx, it gives me this error on the following line:- Code Snippet results = rs.Render(ReportPath, format, historyID, devInfo, Parameters, credentials, _ showHideToggle, encoding, mimeType, reportHistoryParameters, warnings, streamIDs) with the error {"This report requires a default or user-defined value for the report parameter 'start_date'. It blows up on this line again. with this error. Code Snippet results = rs.Render(ReportPath, format, historyID, devInfo, Parameters, credentials, _ showHideToggle, encoding, mimeType, reportHistoryParameters, warnings, streamIDs) With the errors {"Default value or value provided for the report parameter 'start_date' is not a valid value. --> Default value or value provided for the report parameter 'start_date' is not a valid value. --> Default value or value provided for the report parameter 'start_date' is not a valid value."} This is probably occuring because the date I had provided is not found in the list of dates. I really don't want to default a date at the moment, to allow the user to select a date. So I finally gave it a date...... a valid date. Code Snippet Dim ReportRenderer As New RenderSQLReports Dim Parameters() As Reportingservices.ParameterValue = New Reportingservices.ParameterValue(1) {} Parameters(0) = New Reportingservices.ParameterValue Parameters(0).Label = "start_date" Parameters(0).Name = "start_date" Parameters(0).Value = "10/1/2004 12:00:00 AM" Parameters(1) = New Reportingservices.ParameterValue Parameters(1).Label = "end_date" Parameters(1).Name = "end_date" Parameters(1).Value = "11/1/2004 12:00:00 AM" ReportRenderer.RenderReport(Parameters, "/Folder/reportname", "pdffilename.pdf") LO and behold, it works BUT . now i get this error in the aspx code. Runtime error has occured. Moreover, I didn't even get the HTMLViewer too even when I had assigned the devinfo.... Really need some help here, as this is quite urgent.... I am at a loss at this, and maybe that there is an option that I am not seeing or something I am missing. please help . Bernard-So close yet so far, How cruel are the software bugs-

Report Server Error Messages social.msdn.microsoft.com

Hi, I am using Reporting services through web services using the SOAP API. The problem I am facing is for any errors that occur the messages are getting displayed more than once. For example : while rendering a report(which takes a parameter) if the parameter is not passed the same error message is displayed thrice. "This report requires a default or user-defined value for the report parameter 'Num_RP_1'. To run or subscribe to this report, you must provide a parameter value. ---> This report requires a default or user-defined value for the report parameter 'Num_RP_1'. To run or subscribe to this report, you must provide a parameter value." while calling listChildren() method if the folderpath passed is a non existing one then the same error message is displayed twice. "The path of the item '/SomeNonExistantPath/' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash. ---> The path of the item '/SomeNonExistantPath/' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash." 1. Why some messages are displayed twice and some are displayed thrice ? 2. Is there any way to get the error message only once ? Thanks in advance,

Error Programaticaly Rendering A Report Using Reporting Services Web Services social.msdn.microsoft.com

I'm using Reporting Services 2005 SP1 and wrote some code to render reports server-side. My sample report has few parameters that must be passed so I pass these parameters with code. <My code> ReportServiceExecution.ReportExecutionService rs = new ReportServiceExecution.ReportExecutionService(); rs.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials; string extension, mimeType, encoding; ReportServiceExecution.Warning[] warnings; string[] streamID; ParameterValue[] parameters = new ParameterValue[2]; parameters[0] = new ParameterValue(); parameters[0].Name = "pID"; parameters[0].Value = "6548747"; parameters[1] = new ParameterValue(); parameters[1].Name = "pClass"; parameters[1].Value = "8"; ExecutionHeader header = new ExecutionHeader(); ExecutionInfo executionInfo = rs.LoadReport(reportPayslip.Name, null); executionInfo = rs.SetExecutionParameters(parameters, "en-us"); rs.ExecutionHeaderValue = header; rs.ExecutionHeaderValue.ExecutionID = executionInfo.ExecutionID; byte[] report = rs.Render("PDF", "<DeviceInfo><Toolbar>False</Toolbar></DeviceInfo>", out extension, out mimeType, out encoding, out warnings, out streamID); </My code> Actually, I have several more parameters but I've checked the collection and all the parameters I want are there and have values. Their names match those found in executionInfo.Parameters. But when I run my code I get the following error on Render(): <Error> "This report requires a default or user-defined value for the report parameter 'pClass'. To run or subscribe to this report, you must provide a parameter value. ---> This report requires a default or user-defined value for the report parameter 'pClass'. To run or subscribe to this report, you must provide a parameter value. ---> This report requires a default or user-defined value for the report parameter 'pClass'. To run or subscribe to this report, you must provide a parameter value." </Error> I've double-checked and my parameter array does have the problematic parameter, I passed it a value but when I check executionInfo.Parameters I see that it's the only parameter that hasn't been give a default value after calling SetExecutionParameters(). So my parameters do seem to be passed but one seems to refuse getting a value. If I comment out the SetExecutionParameters() line I get, as expected a similar error but on another parameter (first one in the executionInfo.Parameters collection). So I'm left to beleive that the SetExecutionParameters() has some kind of bug as it works for all but one parameter. I've checked casing, spelling, tried passing phony parameters and from what I've seen I should be getting an error when I pass the parameters if I got something wrong. Any help would be much appreciated.

Blank Report Shows Up For Null Parameters. social.msdn.microsoft.com

I have created a report with a stored proc which takes a parameter whose default value is null. Now when I run my stored proc in Enterprise Manager without any params I get 4 rows otherwise with proper parameter I get 2 rows. Now I set the params value to allow for Null and blank values. When I run the report if I provide parameter value it works fine but if i try to run it without any param it shows an empty report while the stored proc running without params shows 4 rows. I have earlier sucessfully created reports where stored procs had 4 params out of which 3 where defaulted to null. And so I set the allow nulls, Allow Blanks values to be true for those params in Rep services. So when I selected value for 1st param and ran the report I got the desired report. But this time I have only one param which can be null. But its not working. Thanks in advance.

&&"Override Default&&" Button In Properties-&&>Parameters Section social.msdn.microsoft.com

I wrote a report in Visual Studio with some parameters that I gave default values to in the report definition. I deployed it out to the report server and when I look at the report Properties, Parameters section to see the default values. Instead of seeing all of the default values, I see a bunch of "Override Default" buttons. When you click the buttons, you get a blank text box in which to enter a new value. Someone before me created a report with default values and the parameters section of that report has text boxes with the default values in them. Does anyone know how to have the default values show up rather than those "Override Default" buttons? Thanks.

Default Parameter Value Is No Longer Part Of Cascading Parameter In SSRS 2005? social.msdn.microsoft.com

Hi, I need "conditional" cascading parameters: In Report Manager when one changes parameter 1, parameter 2 get changed based on parameter 1. Optionally, one can also enter values to parameter 2 directly. I was able to achieve this in SSRS 2000 (SP2) with the following setups. SSRS 2005 and SP1 no longer works - Parameter 2 always shows its default value regardless whether one select a value in Parameter 1 or not. Parameter 1 available values: from query default values: non query (specify a value "<None>") Parameter 2 available values: Non query (no value specified) default values: from query (based on Parameter 1) It seems to me that the default value in SSRS 2000 is considered as cascading parameter. But it is no longer the case in SSRS 2005. Is this a SSRS 2005 bug? is there any other work arounds or suggestions? Thanks. Kong

Subreports: Parameter Value Dropdown Shows Sum And Count Fields But Not The Actual Data Fields. social.msdn.microsoft.com

I have just started using SQL Server reporting services and am stuck with creating subreports. I have a added a sub report to the main report. When I right click on the sub report, go to properties -> Parameters, and click on the dropdown for Parameter Value, I see all Sum and Count fields but not the data fields. For example, In the dropdownlist for the Parameter value,IseeSum(Fields!TASK_ID.Value, "AppTest"), Count(Fields!TASK_NAME.Value, "CammpTest") but not Fields!TASK_NAME.Value, Fields!TASK_ID.Value which are the fields retrieved from the dataset assigned to the subreport. When I manually change the parameter value to Fields!TASK_ID.Value, and try to preview the report, I get Error: Subreport could not be shown. How To Pass Parameter Value To Report From Url social.msdn.microsoft.com

I have a report in SSRS 2005. I wish to pass a parameter called nIndex from the calling WinApp. http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fMy-Reports%2fPrimarySuppliers&rs:Command=Render&rc: parameters=false&nIndex=82896 even tried the following url: http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fMy-Reports%2fPrimarySuppliers&nIndex=82896 I tried to use the above url. The report doesn't pick the correct value of nIndex that I am passing as query string. In Report Parameters page: nIndex is defined as a string parameter, marked as hidden, that allows nulls, and the default value is null. I catch the command execution from SQL Profiler, and I always see the original value of 1, even though I am now passing 82896. I had initially given 1 as default value, when testing, now I need to pass this new value to get the latest data. I have built and deployed the report several times since then. Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks.

Stored Procedures - Processing With Default Values Of The Database In ADO www.codeguru.com

I've a stored procedure in Sybase say for ex. Mult with 3 parameters num1, num2, num3. The default values are set in Sybase for num2 as 15 and num3 as 20. If I don't provide a value through ADO in VB, these default values should be taken and processed. If I don't give all parameters, I get an error. Also, If I give the parameter without a value, I get an error. Also if I give the parameter value as adEmpty/Null, then the stored procedure's default value is not taken.Should I have to supply all parameters(by using CreateParameter method of ADO command object) for a stored procedure or is it enough if I supply the required parameters only? If I've to supply all parameters, is there any way that I avoid giving values to the parameters which should result in processing with default values set at the stored procedure?

RsReportParameterTypeMismatch For Null Values social.msdn.microsoft.com

I have a report that was fine, but now is erroring out. Changes were that we put SP2 on and added the Reporting Services web service. The report is called using the ReportViewer object and has a number of optional integer parameters. All parameters have a default value of NULL. The code that populates the parameters is: Dim paramsReport As WebForms.ReportParameterInfoCollection = ReportViewer1.ServerReport.GetParameters() Dim paramsPrompt(paramsReport.Count - 1) As WebForms.ReportParameter'-- Loop here paramsPrompt(j) = New WebForms.ReportParameter(paramsReport(i).Name, prompt)'-- Error here ReportViewer1.ServerReport.SetParameters(paramsPrompt) It was never a problem previously to pass an empty string for an integer prompt, but now it errors out with: The value provided for the report parameter 'program_id' is not valid for its type. (rsReportParameterTypeMismatch) I can't figure out what is wrong - the constructor for ReportParameter only takes a string for the value, so I can't pass it a System.DBNull. Did something change in SP2? Any idea what to check.

i am trying to build a report that uses multivalue parameters - the report is a simple listing report that lists out a list of cases as a table - the data is obtained from a view which just returns all details for all cases there is no user input for the selection details - am going to be calling the report and passing over the parameter values directly to it. there are several parameters for the report - they all default to "All" for each of these parameters, i need to be able to either use the default value of "ALL" or to enter alist (comma separated ?) q1) could i just enter the list as a string comma separated list (rather than as multivalued parameters) and then use this list to filter the data using the FILTERS tab on the dataset q2) if q1 is not possible, if i use multivalue parameters, how do i get my list of parameters into the report as the application calling the report just has a list of values thx mark

Passing Null To Stored Procedure In Reporting Services social.msdn.microsoft.com

Hello, I have a report. I need to make a drop-down parameter optional. I've setup the parameter to use a dataset as its source, and I need to allow the value to be null. I've selected allow nulls check box, and I've even tried setting the default value to System.DBNull.Value. But, when the entry is not selected (blank), no data ever comes back. If the data is blank or null, my procedure works (I've tested it). How do I send a null value to the database through reporting services report? I was hoping to avoid creating a special query just for that purpose. Thanks.

Cascade Parameter social.msdn.microsoft.com

I have a Cascade parameter Region and Market. I removed the "All" caption from the Region parameter using children of a member (MDX) where I can see now only "Select All" at the resulted parameter selection list. But I cannot do the same for the Market which is dependend on the Region parameter. My quesiton is how to remove the All caption which is coming from a Dim, so that there is only one selection called "Select All" then 2 i.e. "Select All" and "All" Please note that both parameter selection need to be done at Run time. My second question is, for the second parameter "Market", i provided the default value meaning when the user select the Region then the cascade parameter "markets" automatically selected using default parameter value in the report using parameters. The problem is, the default value is checked for the first time, but if I make change in the Region, say check one more Region then the Market value is not auto checked for the new Markets. Help is apprecaited Thank You Imran

SQL Reporting :: Custom UI For SSRS (Mimic Report.aspx)? forums.asp.net

I'm currently working on a project that will allow users to do the following:. Choose one or more reports from the report library.2. Cycle through each report, choosing the parameter values to use to run each report.3. Generate a pdf containing all of the reports in one large file.4. Download the pdf.I'm handling 1, 3, and 4 just fine but running into some problems with item 2. The multi-select parameters are giving me headaches. Basically I want a page that contains the parameter selection piece of the standard SSRS web interface but instead of "View Report" it would fire off a function I've created that saves the parameter values and then reloads the page for the next report in the list chosen by the userDoes anyone know if the Report.aspx source code is available somewhere? I'm currently using a PopupControlExtender, CheckboxList, and Textbox to try and mimic the functionality of the multi-select parameter interface that's provided by SSRS but am having trouble getting the page to postback when the user clicks outside the list of parameter values (the default SSRS interface does this).

Default Values Does Not Include All The Values (Cascading Parameters) social.msdn.microsoft.com

A have a multi-valued parameter (B) which is dependent on a single-valued parameter (A) on my report. When a value is selected in A, I want all matching values in B to be selected by default and the "Select All" option checked. To do this I have set the Default Values section in B to point to the same dataset as the "Available Values" section. Both A and B have default values so the report runs automatically. One of the values in parameter A (say Value1) yields more values in parameter B than the other (say Value2). If I run the report the first time with Value1 selected as the default for parameter A, all values in B are checked correctly. If I run the report with  Value2 selected the first time and then change the selected value to Value2 and run my report, all values in B are displayed but only the values that were previously checked (when Value1 was selected), are now checked, leaving the "Select All" unchecked. What am I doing wrong? Why are all the values in B not checked? The dataset is the same in "Available Values" section and "Default Values" section.

Defaulting Dependent Parameters social.msdn.microsoft.com

Hi, I have a report which uses a parameter called "Interval" with possible string values of "Daily", "Weekly", and "Monthly" and I want these values to set the default values for my StartDate and EndDate parameters. However, the default value remains static. And I have tried all of the solutions found in this forum. Any suggestions? I am using SSRS 2005. And I have tried using an iif statement for StartDate, also tried Property->Custom Code, and also tried using stored procedure to populate Start and End Dates, but none of these provide dynamic parameter setting like I was hoping for. And I think this should work because I know that if it is not a date that it works correctly. For example if I have one parameter called country and a subsequent one named state, every time I change the country it will let me re-pick the state. But this is not working correctly here. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong or how to fix this?

SQL Reporting :: Getting ReportViewer Client Parameters At Runtime forums.asp.net

I cannot seem to do the following: 1) I have a report that uses the ASP.NET 2.0 Report Viewer against a RS2005 report that has parameters. Some have default values. One is a text box. Others are drop-down lists. 2) I have ShowParameterPrompts = true and am presented the parameter area upon first visit to the page. 3) I fill in the parameters on the web browser page and click the View Report button 4) Now, on the server side, I want to examine the parameter values (in the Page_Load event). When I do a GetParameters on the ServerReport of the ReportViewer, I receive back a collection of the default parameters values, not the values that I just submitted. How do I see the parameter values submitted by the client? Other information I found while investigating this: 1) If I click on the View Report button again (and again), GetParameters always return the previous set of parameters, not the current values that the client submitted. 2) If I look at the Request.Forms collections I can see values for controls that have been generated by the ReportViewer control in the parameters area - where the values are different when the client submitts new parameters. 3) If I do a GetParameters in the pages Page_PreRender event, I see the same behavior. 4) I can do a walk of the control tree inside the report view control instance and see the various controls created for the parameters area. Those controls have the Request.Form values in them. 5) The Report Viewer, load, report refresh and prerender events don't seem to be much help either. I could hack a solution using the control tree or the Request.Form values, but that's rather inelegant and relies on Micrsoft not changing the ReportViewer control's behavior.

Cannot Pass Parameter Via URL social.msdn.microsoft.com

I see a lot of posts asking for help with this type of problem but cannot find an answer that works. After 24 hours of trying, using examples from the Microsoft documentation, it's been utterly impossible to pass a parameter to a report via URL. To make sure I'm not fighting more than one problem at the same time, I've stepped away from the production report I was trying to produce and created a simple report with a parameter named "p1". The only field on this test report is a textbox that displays the value of the parameter "p1". If I set the report up so that the user is queried for a value for "p1", the report works as expected -- the parameter is echoed back on the report. The same thing can't be done via the URL. If I follow the docs and tack something like &rs:Command=Render&p1=hello onto the URL, I'm prompted for a value and/or told 'p1 is missing a value', depending on the visibility and default options I set for the parameter in the report definition. I've tried every possible combination of settings I can think of for a parameter in the report definition, and every single one fails. Is this a task that's beyond RS abilities?

SSRS 2005 SP1 Report Parameters Not Refreshing social.msdn.microsoft.com

This works great on the first choice, if I select no, nothing is checked in the list and if I select yes then everything is selected. However, if I select Yes and select No, everything remains checked. It acts like it does a refresh, but does not. Has anyone else had a similar issue? Thanks

What Does A Stored Procedure Recieve From A SqlDataSource Who's Parameter Is Empty And No Default Value... forums.asp.net

Possible To Create An OPTIONAL Multi-value Field That Can Be Left Empty? social.msdn.microsoft.com

Greetings, I have several reportsfor which the user has asked to have an optional muti-value parameter. They want to be able to select zero, one, many, or all values in the parameter list. The parm list is created through a query and the values are not static. I would like to allow the user to leave the muti-value field empty if they want to allow all values to appear on the report. I've read some discussion about populatinga multi-value default with the same query that produces the multi-value list values - presto, everything is selected. However, this is not a desirable solution for me because I "echo" the users parameter selections in the report heading. Selecting all values (and some parms have a lot of values) would cause the "parm feedback" section to grow large and unreadable. In short, I don't want to tell the user they have to select everything when they really want to select nothing. Is there any way to have a muti-value parm that won't insist the user select one or more values? Thanks, BCB

Set its Expression to: =IIF(Parameters!LastName.Value = System.DBNull.Value OR Parameters!LastName.Value = "", Fields!LastName.Value, Nothing), its operator to "=" and its value to =IIF(Parameters!LastName.Value = Nothing OR Parameters!LastName.Value = "", Nothing, Parameters!LastName.Value & "*") voila! SQL Reporting :: How To Call Multi-value Parameters In SSRS From Application forums.asp.net

i am trying to call an SSRS report (in VS 2005) from my asp.net (web application) implemented in VS 2008 (don't ask me why, i am kind of confused by this weird arrangement too). report has been deployed to report server and it contains a multi-value parameter.when i call report from asp.net app, i set the value for this multi-value parameter as a string and all selected values are separated by comma. i.e. i have 5 options (a, b, c, d, e), and i selected first two, the string is then "a,b". the multi-value parameter on the report side is defined as: Multi-value selected, Allow blank selected, Avaliable values are from query (a dataset that contains a, b, c, d, e) Value field and Label field are both mapped to dataset filed (there is only one field in the dataset). the default values are from query too (same dataset). value field is mapped also. i have two problems: 1: it looks to me that all available values are selected on the report side, regardless what i really selected and passed over (when i turn on paramters). 2: when i turn off parameters, i need to display what values being selected as a string, the join statement, join(Parameters!TeamLead.Value), gives a list of all available values for the multi-value parameter, however, i only need selected values. how should i write this expression (for a textbox) to join only selected items in the multi-value parameter(i don't see any option in the intellisense dropdown box)?

Forward Dependency Error In SQL Server Reporting Services Table Names social.msdn.microsoft.com

Hi I am creating a report on a database where some of the table names start with the @ sign - ie @table1. Reporting services picks this up as a parameter, instead of a table name in my query, even though I am encapsulating the table name in square brackets eg. [@table1] I have several data sets in the report that i am using to populate valid parameters. These datasets are all variations of queries from tables that have @ as the first character. When i then try to run the report i get an error message as follows: "The report parameter pool has a default value or a valid value that depends on the report parameter SD_POOLCONTRACTS. Forward dependencies are not valid" This is frustrating as SD_POOLCONTRACTS is not a report parameter but one of the database tables that has @ for it's first character. here is the query that i use to obtain the valid values for the pool report parameter that i am trying to set up. SELECT distinct u_poolcode as Pool FROM OCRD INNER JOIN OCRG ON OCRD.GroupCode = OCRG.GroupCode INNER JOIN CRD1 ON OCRD.CardCode = CRD1.CardCode inner JOIN [@SD_POOLCONTRACT] INNER JOIN [@SD_POOLCONTRCT_LINE] ON [@SD_POOLCONTRACT].DocEntry = [@SD_POOLCONTRCT_LINE].DocEntry INNER JOIN [@SD_CONTRACTS] ON [@SD_POOLCONTRCT_LINE].U_DocNo = [@SD_CONTRACTS].DocNum ON case when len(ocrd.fathercard) = 0 then ocrd.cardcode else ISNULL(OCRD.FatherCard, OCRD.CardCode) end = [@SD_CONTRACTS].U_CardCode WHERE (OCRD.CardType = 'c') AND (OCRG.GroupName LIKE N'producer%') AND (CRD1.AdresType = 'b') ORDER BY OCRG.GroupName, FatherCard, OCRD.CardCode Any help would be appreciated.

Passing Multiple Parameters To A Multiple Value Parameter Field In Crystal www.codeguru.com

Hello,I am using CR Developer 8.5 and Access 2000.I have a multiple value parameter in an agent report that is a string. This parameter is used for capturing agent IDs. Parameter values are entered through an Access 2000 form. I need to allow users to enter multiple agent IDs into a text box on the form and then pass those values to the multiple value parameter in the report. For example, the user would enter the following into the text box:MA0083, MF0265, MH5698, etcThe report would then return information related to those 3 agents.I am using .ParameterFields(0) in code to populate the parameter in the report using the following code:rpt.ParameterFields(0) = "Agent;" & P18Agent & ";TRUE"This works fine for sending only 1 agent ID to the report but how can I send multiple values from the text box P18Agent to the multiple value parameter in the report? Thanks for your help.

Parameter Question - Which I Have Not Found A Solution For social.msdn.microsoft.com

I'm attempting to put together a more complex report, however I was experiencing  troubles with the parameters. So I simplified it and will now bring to you for help. here is the current MDX for the dataset with member measures.bucket1 as sum([REL TURN HRS].[TRN HRS].&[0] : strtomember("[REL TURN HRS].[TRN HRS].&[" + @bucket_size + "]"),[Measures].[FACT CUT RELEASE Count])  SELECT NON EMPTY { measures.bucket1} ON COLUMNS, NON EMPTY {[CUSTOMER JOB].[Cust-Title-Issue-Job].[JOB_NUMBER].ALLMEMBERS } ON ROWS FROM [DW INSIGHT] WHERE ([CUSTOMER JOB].[JOB_NUMBER].&[A403EZ0])  when i ran it i got the following message error The query contains the bucket_size parameter, which is not declared. (msmgdsrv) So I set up both the Query and Report parameters (same name) the query parameter also has a default of 6 (a default was mandatory). i then ran the report and it ran fine, until i wanted to change to a value other than the default. It still ran but it disregarded the value i entered and used the default value. I'm not sure if this is a bug or if my MDX is incorrect. Can someone confirm?

Passing Parameters To The SQL Report From A Text Box In Jsp social.msdn.microsoft.com

Hi All, I want to dynamically generate the SQL Server Reporting Services by passing the query parameter from the url like this : "http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fDashboardReports%2fHorse_Profile&rs:Command=Render&rcarameters=false&HorseID=117415" Where horseid id my parameter which is needed by report to generate the required data. This query paramter value is picked from the text box on my jsp page. But my problem is when i go to this url it says the message "The 'HorseID' parameter is missing a value ". In my report i have disabled the prompt user option , enable the Hide paramter option and has given no default value for this parameter. I have done a lot of search on this topic. Everybody says that we can pass the values from the url like i am using. But still its not working. This forum is my last hope. Any body has any idea please give me some idea. Regards.

Caption Parameters And Linked Reports social.msdn.microsoft.com

Hi there.. We are having som problems over here, when using linked reports and wants to send over parameters to a report that is using OLAP as datasource. First problem is with "available values". When we use the "parameter" checkbox in the OLAP querybuilding area to create the parameter, itwill show all the available hierarchies and values. We want to limit the available values to for example "Year-Month" instead of the standard "year-month-date".. A workaround would be to "filter" the data with ordinary parameters in datetime format, but then the report would be extremely slow (it gets all the data from the cube, then filters.. Not optimal).. Then we have the problem of picking "default values" when linking from another report.. When we are using a parameter that gets its values from the olap cubes (as in the above example), the default value that the link tries to send over (string values) does not end up as default values on the linked report. Is there any way to set default values to parameters that use OLAP to populate the available values, from the "outside"? Thankful for every help I can get.. /Pär

Pass Variable To Crystal Reports 9 From Vb6.0 www.xtremevbtalk.com

I apologize if this is on the board somewhere...but trust me, I've looked Background info: VB6.0 Crystal 9.0 SQL Server database w/ ADO connection. I am connected and can view the reports I need.I am trying to pass parameters when I run my report so that it will not prompt the user. I know the parameter names (BeginDate, EndDate) and have stored them in an array (arrParam). I also know what values I would like to pass (11/01/03, 11/20/03) these values will also be in an array (arrParamValue)The reason the parameters are in an array is because they are pulled off of a database and are delimted by a comma and I simply split them and stored each value in an array.Questions:1. Can I set the value of a dataset equal to the array values? (so that i could use Report.Database.SetDataSource newDataSet2. If not is there another way to simply pass the string values as parameters to the report?

Two Multi-value Parameters That Are Bounded To Dynamic Datasets (using Vbscript.) social.msdn.microsoft.com

I have a report with a multi-value parameter that gets its values (value and label fields) from a dataset that is built at runtime (from vbscript code that returns a string). When I press 'preview' all works fine. When I add another multi-value parameter that (like the first parameter) gets its value from a dataset that is built at runtime (from vbscript code that returns a string) and press 'preview', I get a strange behavior: The second parameter is disabled until I choose an option for the first parameter. I do not pass value from the first parameter to the second and the two variables have 'Null' in the default values and 'from query' in the available values. Why does the second parameter is disabled and how can I avoid it? Thanks in advance.

I have done everything but prompt the user for values. So there are a bunch of reports with varied parameters. Some of these parameters are hard-coded lists and others are DataSetReference. How do I provide the subscriber with an accurate list of valid values? I was thinking something like: ReportParameters[0].reportParameter.ValidValues but that comes back null. I tried reportService.GetReportParameters(report, historyID, forRendering, values, credentials) Values comes back null. Please help! Thank you! --Larry--

SQL Reporting :: Snapshots For Report With Subreport forums.asp.net

Drill Through Doesn't Work. social.msdn.microsoft.com

I havea drill through that passes four parameters. Three are passed from the current selections in that reports parameters and the fourth needs to be the customer name they click on in the body of the report so it's passed as Fields!fieldname.Value. When I click on the customer name, the drillthough firesbut the report simply doesn't load. If I remove the parameter from the field clicked on and just pass the three parameters, it goes to the drill through correctly and that fourth parameter just sets to the default for that parameter in that report. I can then simply check that parameter and select the value from the list that is exactly the same as the value I was attempting to pass it in the drill through and report refreshes correctly. Whatever it is, is something in the manner that the value is passed in the drill through specifically. Any ideas?

Pass Multivalued Parameter To Server Report social.msdn.microsoft.com

Hi all, I'm trying to pass a multivalued parameter to server report through ... ReportParameter rp = new ReportParameter("Name",new string[]{"name1","name2"}; ReportViewer.Serverreport.Setparameter(new ReportParameter[]{rp}). ... at running time, in the dropdown value list of paramter "Name", there are no CheckBox at the left of each value, but I really need these checkbox so user can choose the name they want. Then I set another parameter newName in the report side and set its value come from Parameter Name. Now there are checkboxes left of values, but no matter what I choose(click), the actual value for the newName is the default value i set in report-->report parameter-->newName. Any idea? Thanks, Jone

Those Impossible Data Reports! www.codeguru.com

Ok, here it is. I am working with VB6, within the data environment, and I am trying to create a report by passing it multiple parameters. I am succesfull in passing one parameter from a textbox to the report...(as long as it is not a string...another problem) and generating the report. But I can not pass in multiple parameters! If some one has the code or can explain how to do it I would be quite happy. This is the code on the form for my sucessful report which passes one parameter:Private Sub cmd_custnum_Click()If IsNumeric(txt_custnum.Text) = True Then DataEnvironment1.Custnum CInt(txt_custnum.Text)'passes what is in the txt to the paramter in my select statement DataReport1.ShowElse MsgBox "Please enter a valid Customer ID"End IfAnd here is the code for my unsucessful attempt:If IsDate(txt_invoicedate.Text) = True Then If txt_vestype.Text "" Then DataEnvironment1.Invoiced_date (txt_invoicedate.Text) & (txt_vestype.Text) Invoiced_rpt.ShowElse MsgBox "Please enter a valid invoice type" End IfElseMsgBox "Please enter a valid date"End SubWhat about the value tab...I don't use it...should I ?Lets face it I am lost!

Custom DateTimePicker Value Isn't Saved In Application Settings stackoverflow.com

I want to save a Custom DateTimePicker.Value in my Application Settings. The custom format is : dd/MM/yyyy hh:mm:ss, instead of dd/MM/yyyy The field i've created in the application settings parameters is LASTSAVE (DATE / APPLICATION) When I try to link in the ApplicationSettings/PropertyBinding ... VALUE with my field LASTSAVE, i have an error : The Value '01/01/0001 00:00:00' is not valid for 'Value'. 'Value' mustbe ... 'MinDate' et 'MaxDate'. Name of the parameter : Value I then entered the MIN and MAX date in the properties of my control DATETIMEPICKER. I have also put into the properties Value a start date like 23/11/2011 12:00:00 ; However, when i retry to link in the ApplicationSettings/PropertyBinding ... value to LASTSAVE / I have the same error (The Value '01/01/0001 00:00:00' is not valid for 'Value'. ). I've saved all, do a process that put a value in the datetimepicker.value, but it's not saved, cause not linked.

Language For Setting Parameters social.msdn.microsoft.com

1) When setting parameter values (eg Non-queried default values under Report > Report Parameters), what "language" is it using. Is this MDX? 2) Specifically how would you get it to default to current year. I have [DealDate].[Year].&[2007] works to hard code this year, but I want it to simply grab the current year and [DealDate].[Year].&Year(GetDate()) doesn't work! Thanks

DateTime Parameter, Calendar Control Turn Into A Combo Dropdown Selection social.msdn.microsoft.com

I have a very strange behaviour with a DateTime parameter in Reporting Services. I can type "=today()" as the default value in the report parameters and the calendar shows up as expected when I select preview. If I type either "=today()" in available values for my datetime parameter or connect a dataset that return only one record the calendar disappears and a combo dropdown appears. Are there any solutions to connect a dataset at still show the calendar control with a datetime parameter? Hope anybody can help me.
