Web Forms :: Trying To Use A MasterType TypeName To Access A Class With Master Pages? forums.asp.net

I'm trying to use a MasterType TypeName to access a class with master pages. This works when I'm using .NET 2.0, VS 2005, and C#. When I try this using .NET 3.5, VS 2008 and C# I get the error: The type or namespace name 'classA' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) and it is pointing to the Default.aspx.designer.cs In the default.aspx I have: <%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="... <%@ MasterType TypeName="classA" %> I have added a folder App_Code to my project and in that folder I have a class file "classA.cs" that contains: Using ... Namespace Project.App_Code { public class classA : System.Web.UI.MasterPage ... The main difference that I see from where it works and where it doesn't work is that where it doesn't work it uses the namespace called Project. So I figure my problem is in the including the class classA in the namespace or properly including the namespace and / or App_Code directory in the MasterType TypeName which I don't seem to be able to figure out.

Curious Problem With String www.vbforums.com

I am stuck with a curious problem in VB6.Here is the string :sqlSt = ""sqlSt = sqlSt & "INSERT INTO RawData(RunID,fullName,name,category,type,subType,numberOfLines,virtual,date,namespace)"sqlSt = sqlSt & " SELECT " & RunID & " ,fullName,name,category,type,subType,numberOfLines,virtual," & "#" & d & "#" & ",namespace"sqlSt = sqlSt & " FROM RawData WHERE namespace ='" & namespace & "' AND RunID =" & idid = 256The string value when variables are assigned terminates as followed :"AND RunID =25" instead of 256.After removing "FROM RawData" from sqlSt the string terminates as expected : "AND RunID =256"Why is that ? Don't strings can contain up 2 billion characters ?Here is the beginning of the SubRoutine :Public Sub Duplicate(namespace As String, id, RunID)Dim sqlSt As StringDim r As RecordsetDim d As DateSet r = GetDateFromRunID(RunID)d = r.Fields("date")sqlSt = ""sqlSt = sqlSt & "INSERT INTO RawData(RunID,fullName,name,category,type,subType,numberOfLines,virtual,date,namespace)"sqlSt = sqlSt & " SELECT " & RunID & " ,fullName,name,category,type,subType,numberOfLines,virtual," & "#" & d & "#" & ",namespace"sqlSt = sqlSt & " FROM RawData WHERE namespace ='" & namespace & "' AND RunID =" & idI get with id = 256 and namespace = 'customer.demo' and RunID =257 the string :"INSERT INTO RawData(RunID,fullName,name,category,type,subType,numberOfLines,virtual,date,namespace) SELECT 257 ,fullName,name,category,type,subType,numberOfLines,virtual,#1/3/2007#,namespace FROM RawData WHERE namespace ='customer.demo' AND RunID =25instead of RunID = 256.If I remove "FROM RawData" from sqlSt , I get RunID=256 at the end of sqlSt.What is the problem ?

Avoiding Namespace Declaration In Each File? social.msdn.microsoft.com

One feature of C# compiler is that namespace declaration by default follows the folder name structure in the project. By e.g. you have MyProject1MyDrawing and inside you create a class MyPoint the namespace for MyPoint will be MyProject1.MyDrawing In VB I cant see any namespace declaration(apparently it implicitly 'inherits' the project(MyProject1) namespace). If I create a MyPoint and MyLine clases in the MyDrawing folder I need to surround each of created classes with "Namespace MyProject1.MyDrawing"..."End Namespace". Is it possible to automatically name the namespaces like in C# by the folder name?

Why is that I can reference UserControlA but not UserControlB which are in the same namespace from the WorkFlowManager cs file? Visual Studio :: How To Create A Folder In App_code Called "BL" forums.asp.net

I have a VS 2005 website project. I have created a folder in App_code called "BL". In BL folder, I have a User.cs class. So the structure is, App_Code/BL/User.cs. Now, I create a new aspx page. In this page, it is not detecting User.cs.. It is showing up .net framework's User(Page.User) class. I thought this might be a conflict of namespaces or something and so I gave a namespace to my User.cs. The namespace given for this class is Sitename.BL.. But the namespace(Sitename.BL) doesn't even show up in when I type "Using.. " If I create another cs in the BL folder, its able to recognize the class. I don;t know where I am going wrong. I don't want to create web application and create a separate BL class library and all for a small website as mine.

Differences About Importing Namespace In C# And VB? stackoverflow.com

In VB, when we adding a new references - in my case web references -, it simply type namespace followed by the class name to make a new object. For example: Dim obj As NamespaceName.ClassName = New NamespaceName.ClassName Then I apply this concept in C#. So my code will be: NamespaceName.ClassName obj = new NamespaceName.ClassName ...and it doesn't work.Actually, is there any difference about Importing Namespace between those two?And also can you give me a little explanation about Project-Wide Default Namespace Imports in VB? UPDATE:My point is why "In C#, When I've typed NamespaceName, the ClassName was not listed in the Intellisense?".However, it did well in VB, do I have to import something?Maybe, there is something to do with the term "Project-Wide Default Namespace Imports". Visual Studio :: Folder Names Not Showing In Namespace Intellisense? forums.asp.net

When using VS2008 and C# I choose File - New - Web Site.I use namespaces in the aspx files in the same folder. The problem is that the aspx files in one folder can not access the aspx files in other folders even though the files in each of the other folders use the same namespace followed by the folder name. In fact, if I am in one folder and type the namespaces followed by a period, the other folder names are not displayed in intellisense, only the name of the folder name of the aspx file in which it resides is displayed on the intellisense. How can I get the other folder names to show in intellisense from any other folder that I am working in when coding in the code behind? fyi, in the html inherit I point to the namespace, the folder name and the code behind file then in the code behind file I code the namespace, the folder name the aspx file is in and the class is the name of the code behind file.

How To Fix Type Names Conflicts In Dynamic Data stackoverflow.com

We're working in a Dynamic Data project that will handle entities coming from two different namespaces: myModel.Abby and myModel.Ben. whose classes are: [code]... So myModel.Abby.Car and myModel.Ben.Car are homonym. when I try to register both ObjectContext's, an exception is thrown telling us that there are type name conflicts between the mentioned classes (although the types belong to different namespaces). How can we overcome type-name conflicts, caused by repeated type names among different namespaces?

Visual Studio :: UpdatePanel Reference In Control.ascx.designer.cs Keeps Changing forums.asp.net

I have an annoying problem when I'm developing in Visual Studio 2010. I am using an UpdatePanel in my .ascx file like this: <asp:updatepanel id="upStuff" runat="server">....</asp:updatepanel> in my control.ascx.designer.cs, the update panel is being defined like this: protected global::System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts.updatepanel upSettings; this produces the error: "The type or namespace name 'updatepanel' does not exist in the namespace 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts' (are you missing an assembly reference?)" The actual namespace should be System.Web.UI.UpdatePanel. When I go directly into the designer.cs file and change it, it works. However, every time I go back into editing control.ascx and save, Visual Studio always changes it back to system.Web.UI.WebControls.Webparts.updatepanel. I'm not sure what is causing this. Is it how I should be referencing namespaces and classes in my project? I'm using .NET 3.5.

Make sure the namespace or the type is defined and contains at least one public member. Make sure the imported element name doesn't use any aliases. There is another instance with a different namespace that gives the same warning and I get 11 errors all of which would seem to be related to the two warnings.

My project complies and runs fine if I have my classes in the root folder (Not in App_Code).As soon as I move them into the App_Code folder then it will compile, but running it will bring up the old CS0234: The type or namespace name 'Linq' does not exist in the namespace 'System.Data' (are you missing an assembly reference?)I don't understand how moving the class(es) to the App_Code folder causes the whole thing to fall apart there?Project target is .Net 4 on VWD 2010 Express

Where Do ASP.NET "website Prejects" Store Default Reference/assembly Settings For VB/C# stackoverflow.com

MY understanding is like this, for the "website type" of projects:for VB, the default setting for the namespaces and the default setting for references are both stored in C:WindowsMicrosoft.NetFrameworkV4.0.30319ConfigWeb.config. but C# does not seem to use this global web.config file to store its default namespaces and references settings. One evidence is that you see a lot of "using ..." statements at the top of all C# files whereas you don't see many "imports ..." statements at the top of all VB files. So C# stores the namespace settings in individual .cs files, but where does C# store the reference settings then? Or the C# compiler knows all the reference without having to store it somewhere?

AJAX :: [Microsoft.Web.Script.Services.ScriptService()] - The Type Or Namespace Name 'Web' Does Not ... forums.asp.net

I'm trying to use the [Microsoft.Web.Script.Services.ScriptService()] in my web service, but when I compile I receive the following error message: Error 1 The type or namespace name 'Web' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft' (are you missing an assembly reference?)

Configuration :: Error Occurs In A Local Web Service? forums.asp.net

I have upgraded my laptop to Windows7, VS2010, .net Framework 4 and then upgraded my ASP.NET Web Application to ASP.NET 4.I am now getting the error: The type or namespace name 'Linq' does not exist in the namespace 'System' (are you missing an assembly reference?). This error occurs in a local web service thatI have written and was working before I upgraded my system.I think this has something to do with the changes made to the web.config file when my web application was upgraded to the .net 4 Framework.I have searched the forums and Goggle, but cannot solve my issue.

Ajax Control Toolkit For 2.0 And System.Web.Script? forums.asp.net

I am trying to build the ajax control toolkit project at home but cannot add a reference to System.Web.Extensions or System.Web.Extensions.Design (version 1.0.6) thus i am getting errors like The type or namespace name 'Script' does not exist in the namespace 'System.Web' (are you missing an assembly reference?) This has been driving me nuts All i am trying to build is the actual ajax control toolkit project on its own and its failing.. I am using VS 2008 but the ajax control toolkit is building on framework 2.0

Namespace Or Type Specified Doesn't Contain Public Member forums.asp.net

I have created a ASP.NET 3.5 web application and in it I have SearchGridView.vb class file in the directory Old_App_Code. This file creates a namespace MyApp.WebControls, which is also referenced in web.config in a namespace tag, as well as included as an import directive at the beginning of my content page. Unfortunately, I receive the following error: Warning 1 Namespace or type specified in the project-level Imports 'MyApp.WebControls' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. Make sure the namespace or the type is defined and contains at least one public member. Make sure the imported element name doesn't use any aliases. Here's the first several lines of my class file SearchGridView.vb: [Code].... why this is happening, as well as possible fixes? I cannot impement the asp:SearchGridView due to this error.

Visual Studio :: Leave Namesnpaces Alone? forums.asp.net

I am using LINQ to SQL in an ASP.NET Project. I use "Add New Item..." on a folder in App_Code to add a new LINQ to SQL class, a "DBML."The default Namespace that is assigned to the new DBML is whatever the name of the folder is. So if I'm putting it into a folder named "CoreClasses," then the Namespace is--Namespace CoreClassesOnce the class is created, I open its .vb file and change the Namespace to match my project, like--Namespace MyProjectNameNow I drag tables from Server Explorer onto the DBML screen. When I save, Visual Studio changes the Namespace BACK to the folder name: "Namespace CoreClasses."Not only that, but I have 19 separate Data Contexts defined, 19 DBML's. When I change ONE, Visual Studio changes the Namespace in ALL 19 OF THEM!

C# - Repeater With Multiple Type Binding? stackoverflow.com

I am in situation where I need to bind multiple types to a single repeater.Say for example I have 2 types in different namespaces abc.businessLayer.Type_A [properties - Name(string), Country(string)] xyz.businessLayer.Type_B [properties - FirstName(string), Location(string)] Now I need to bind the repeater with the combined results of above 2 type collection with the repeater column names "Full Name" and "Country".I am planning to add a new Type_C.cs in the application layer and iterate the A and B type collection to assign the properties in C and finally bind the repeater with Type_C.Can someone let me know if there is better way to go with such kind of issue?

Move A Class, Etc To A Different Namespace? social.msdn.microsoft.com

I'm moving some stuff around in a program. How do I move a class (or enum, etc) to a different namespace? Right now I am getting 102 errors because even though VS can update name changes, I don't see how to get it to update a move to a difference namespace. EDIT: Okay, to be more precise, I am moving a class up the namespace tree. So, not just a different namespace, but actually getting rid of the last namespace qualifier.

C# - Avoid Type Name Conflicts With Types Or Names In The User-provided Code? stackoverflow.com

I am writing a code-generator that will need to output some miniscule portions of VB.NET code, and since this is a code generator that will add user-provider code, I'd like to try to avoid type name conflicts with types or names in the user-provided code. In C#, I can prefix types with global:: to make sure they're matched from the global type namespace hierarchy, rather than some local name, but is there a similar system for VB.NET? ie. this: global::System.String

C# - Can Apply Common Namespace From Web.config To App_code Class File stackoverflow.com

I am relatively new to asp.net environment.Recently working on a project, i discovered a problemi.e. I had to add using system.io to all file functions in any page. same for using sql functionsi.e. any method for that namespace had to be used in full like By adding the following section in web.config , ALL my pages automatically have access to that namespace <namespaces> <add namespace="System.Data"/> <add namespace="System.Data.SqlClient"/> <add namespace= "MySql.Data.MySqlClient"/> <add namespace="System.IO"/> </namespaces> [code]...

Application Does Not Recognize Class File In App_Code VS 2010 forums.asp.net

Since App_Code doenst exist as an ASP.NET Folder, I manually added App_Code as a regular folder, then within that I placed technologydescriptor.cs. Although it now has the appearance of an ASP.NET Folder. But for some reason my code doesnt recognize this class if its w/in the App_Code folder. This is picked up if it is not within that folder- why?Error: "The type or namespace name could not be found, are you missing a using directive or assembly reference" [Code]....

Visual Studio :: Namespace Cannot Find New Class In Global.asax? forums.asp.net

In our global.asax, we do not have an Imports at the top. However we're still able to get to a specific name space or namespaces. I guess I don't know why we don't need the imports. Second, after adding a new class to the project and decorating it with the same namespace and compiling that assembly, in the global .asax typing that namespace doesn't list my new class. Granted we are using other classes in that namespace in the global.asax so it's certainly not a reference issue. So I don't know why my class is not showing up. There are no errors to report when I compile the assembly that has this namespace and the assembly which contains my new class.

Stored Procs: Is There A Way To Divide Up (or Namespace) Groups Of Stored Procs social.msdn.microsoft.com

Is there a way to namespace groups of stored procs to reduce confusion when using them? For C# you can have ProjectName.ProjectSection.Classname when naming a class. I am just wondering if there is a way to do the same with SQL stored procs. I know Oracle has packages and the name of the package provides a namespace for all of the stored procs inside it.

Hi, am having the error above in my Subject Line.  I seem to have the problem on my host web service, they have IIS 6.0 on a 2003 Server, and SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 on another server that I connect to seperately.  I am using asp.net 2.0 and SQL 2000 Desktop version.  I am in the very basic beginning of this website development, all I am trying to accomplish here is to enter in a login and password and be redirected to another webpage.  This works on my local laptop with XP Pro, but when I try it on the server that I host my website on, I am getting this error.  Im not sure on what is going wrong here so I am at the mercy of asp gods of this site , below is some more info.    web.config <?xml version="1.0"?> <!--     Note: As an alternative to hand editing this file you can use the     web admin tool to configure settings for your application. Why Are Types Found On An Imported Namepace But Not On A Fully Qualified Namespace After Retargeting... stackoverflow.com

We've just re-targeted a VB.NET project from .Net 2.0 to 3.5.Various framework types are now missing from our project. Wherever the type is referenced using a fully qualified namespace it's missing. If the relevant namespace is imported for the type; it's found. For example, this doesn't find the type Object, with compiler error "System.Object is not defined.":
