I noticed that today the BIS over WIFI stopped working. This is concerning me because last year (June 2010) the same issue happened. The WIFI indicator turns from White to Gray and all BIS is routed through the GSM connection. This frustrates me because I travel overseas and have been using BIS over WIFI for about two years now. However during the two month outage from June - July 2010, I was unable to utilize BIS over WIFI until it suddenly started working again. I have a data plan that allows for 250MB of data per month. My contract is through Vodafone Spain My device is the Bold 9700 My OS version is 5.0 bundle 1022 Like I've stated before, BIS over WIFI has been working flawlessly for about two years (except for the two month in 2010). To add insult to injury, nobody from either BlackBerry or Vodafone Spain has been able to come up with an explanation as of why this service suddenly stops. All I'm being told is that BIS will work with GSM, which is pointless information. For the 22 months I've used BIS, it has worked over WIFI.
I have installed the Bell 5.0 OS on my Rogers bold. Everything went pretty well for a week, and I loved this new OS. But this morning, my BB data stopped to work (email, browser etc.) and on the network status screen, it said that it was not connected to BIS. I connected to my Wifi network, and the BIS connection was back (using wifi). I closed Wifi, called Rogers, they sent a new config to my BB, and everything worked for a minute. Then it then stopped again. Suspecting that my OS was a bit messy, I wiped my device and installed 5.0 from scratch. Still no connection to BIS. So I wiped again and installed the latest Official OS from Rogers. Everything was fine. I then upgraded to 5.0 and lost connectivity to BIS again Any idea on what is going on? Anyone is having trouble have their BB connect to BIS?
At this time there is no need for using the full features of BB with data package. I like to continue using the phone with regular wifi connectivity. Is there a possibility for using my "old" BB bold 9700 as regular phone without an expensive data plan such as BES or BIS?
I used to have the BB Bold 9700 on the Bell Canada network and managed to setup my Hotmail (on BIS) to push as it came in my inbox. I then went over to Fido's network to use the iPhone for a few months.I picked up a BB Torch 9800, unlocked it and have it setup on the Fido network... only trouble is, I can't get it to push hotmail anymore .Not sure what I might be doing differently since it's been a few months when I used my Bold 9700 last
I recently purchased a seconhand BB Bold 9700 from ebay, and after registering for BIS with my provider I have been unable to connect to the BIS at all, so no email or internet. The blackberry network dots appear next to the 3G symbol in the top right hand corner, but in service status it shows that the BIS is not connected. I have spent hours on the phone to my provider troubleshooting this problem. They have completely run out of ideas and have no clue why this is happening.
Need help, my BB Bold 9000 restarted or rebooted when I turned on the wifi, although I found it once work on the wifi at the airport but, it restarted when I try to connect to the wifi in home and some hotel, it stop rebooted when the wifi is out of range or turning off the the modem router (with wifi).Really appreciate for your helps, as the above problem only happens to my BB 9000 bold, but my BB 8320 works just find under all that circumstances.
I have the bold 9700 and about 3 days ago I stopped receiving emails on my device, however I was getting them on my inbox on my PC. Now, I am getting them but there's allot of lag time. My PC inbox gets them right away but it takes my blackberry 20 minutes after it's sent to get sometimes. I tried multiple e-mails and same thing so I know the problem is not the email server and I also have no problems with my BIS and when I send emails with my BB they're sent to the inbox immediately.
Ive had my bb bold for a year now and all has been fine until a few days ago when it stopped using my wifi (although it says its connected as have wifi name on home page). On the service status page it says the BIS is connect by mobile network and BES is not connected.............normally they are both connected by wifi.
When I work at home, I want to connect my BB Bold 9700 to my PC and use my monitor and my keyboard to send text and emails. After a while, my fingers get cramped using they BB keyboard and there must be a way I can do this. My razor came with software that connected my phone to my PC and you could see everything on your monitor and use your PC keyboard...it was awesome. Surely, there is software with BB that does this.
I recently changed my bb 9670 style cdma for a torch 9860 gsm and now with this new bb the bis service over the wifi is not working and is the same carrier just changed the device, also i have a unlimited data plan, but in some areas where im used to stay there is bad reception so i used to be connected by wifi for my bis services, is this a problem of the gsm or RIM, i called several times to costumer assistance but they said that new os7 dont support bis over wifi, and thats not true so what u recomend to me
few days back i bought my first BB ( Curve 8520) & activated BSNL (India) BIS LITE Plan (unlimited e-mail access only, no browser, no social networks etc. ) which is perfect for my needs.My problem is i can't get BIS data services over wifi - white dash indication instead of green check in front of wifi connection option, no e-mail over wifi, only browsing is possible. As my office is basement where GSM Signal aren't available, I am badly in need of BIS over Wifi. I tried very thing given in the various forms from device wipe, wifi diagnostics, bb ip pinging, telneting, HRT WIFI 60 registration to hard reset etc. many times & also did talked to Customer Care a lot but couldn't get my problem solved. After all communications BSNL Customer Care finally told me that I can access BIS Services Over Wifi only if I take BIS Unlimited Plan (which is 3 times costlier than my current one & quite unnecessary for my needs) & with my current Plan I can't access BIS over Wi-Fi.This makes no sense, basically I don't believe this, never read or heard anywhere. BB document mentioned below regarding accessing blackberry data services through wifi doesn't mention any caveat like this
I updated the software of my BB Bold 9700 from ver 5.0 to ver 6.0 Bundle 2475. Now when i restart my device, it works well for around a minute but then it gets hanged and I cant use it any further. I tried connecting it with BB Desktop Software but the problem still persists. One of the reason for this could be inadequate phone memory. So is there any way I can get back to ver 5.0 now?
Anybody knows of any themes for BB bold 9700 running v22.214.171.1248. I installed lot of themes on my BB 9700 and it says successful but if I go in my theme option I don't see any. It seems like no themes are supporting BB bold 9700 with v126.96.36.1998
quick question regarding the LED coverage indicator.I currently have 2 bb's a curve 8310 and of course a bold 9700. i have set both bb's to have the LED coverage indicator on. the curve 8310 LED constantly blinks green while the 9700 only blinks while im on a call or if i am using my bbm. the BOLD always has full bars of coverage so im not sure if they changed the way the led indicator works or if there is just a problem with my 9700.

I am using my laptop for traveling and I use USB CDMA modem connection to connect to the internet. Recently my wife bought a Blackberry bold 9700 hoping that she could access internet without carrying her laptop while traveling with me, sharing the same connection from my laptop. I have been trying to use WiFi to connect my bold 9700 with my laptop using ad-hoc but it seems that bold 9700 does not support ad-hoc. Therefore I am trying another way to connect to the internet from my BB using my Bluetooth. I have linked my blackberry device through bluetooth and my laptop is currently connected to the internet. I have been trying to use my wife's BB to connect to the internet using my laptop's bluetooth connection. But I could not get it to work. Before posting here, I have been searching everywhere on the web for a guide but I could not seems to find one. Could anyone guide me on how to share my laptop internet connection so that my BB could access the web using the same connection as my laptop? If bluetooth and WiFi doesn't work is there any other way? Using USB perhaps? In short: Laptop internet Connection > Share using ? and how? > BB's can browse the web without additional data plan.
I just got an used Bold 9700. I haven't gotten a data plan yet, but I will be upgrading to one very soon. Anyways, I was playing around with the GPS with the wifi radio turned off, the BB maps was working properly. Any explanations to this? I thought BB maps has to work with a data plan?

let me give you my current set up first Win7 office 2007 Bold 9700 app version 188.8.131.523 (680) BB DTM 5.01 when i try to sync a shared calender when i click on map folder in advanced sync configuration screen BB DTM crashes error: Blackberry device manager has stopped working a problem has occurred. I have tried this on a system running XP, office 2007 and BB DTM 4.7 & 5.01 and have had the same error, every-time.
I've noticed that my 9700 is quite slow to connect to BIS over WiFi. The WiFi connection seems to be made quite quickly (SSID appears on the screen within a few seconds), but it takes about a minute for the wifi logo to turn from grey to white to indicate the BIS connection. The network has WAP turned on. My old curve 8900 connected within seconds to the same network. Is there a setting tweak I can do to make the connection more quickly?
Last night my bis cut out and now it won't work at all on the mobile network I have the bold 9700 and everything on the plan is fine. But I can't get onto the internet anymore or email or bbm unless I'm connected to my wifi network. Any suggestions?
My BIS stops working every time my Network mode is 3G. (or 3G & 2G)the little BB symbol just disappears, internet, BBM & email will not work.As soon as I put my phone in to 2G mode everything starts to work.I'm on Three UK network witch is 3G by default.is this a common problem with the 9700? or does my phone need looking at?

Over the past couple of days I have noticed the my BIS email is not working properly on my ATT BB 9700 That is, push email messages are not necessarily getting through in a timely manner. My data connections are working - I have full internet connection, can browse, use FB, use data-based apps, etc. But the BIS email is having a problem. This is true whether I am connected via mobile network (ATT), wifi or microcell (full bars in all cases). I have pulled the battery multiple times and checked BIS settings via the BIS website - all seem fine. Eventually, like once or twice a day, the BIS seems to start working and I get a batch of messages. But it's not consistent.
Guys i now have the bold 9000 and im with Wind Hellas. I see from expansys that they can deliver the 9700 in Greece.If i buy the 9700 from expansys and add the phone to BIS is it going to work with Wind Hellas? I read that 9700 comes with os 5 and now in my 9000 i run the 184.108.40.206 but with browser fix.The service books from 9000 are going to work (the backup service books) with 9700?
I have a BB Bold 9000, and it was working fine, i even updated and it worked great for months.and then last week when i tried to turn on the wifi to search for a network the phone got frozen for a few seconds and restarted it self continuously, like 4 times in a row. since then Im unable to turn the wifi on. bluetooth and service provider are working fine. Just wifi is causing troubles.I even tried to restore it to default settings using the lastest BB desktop software and no results.

so ive got the bold 9700 running the most recent OS, which I updated yesterday. Most of the time youtube player works fine and streems great, but I frequently get an issue where when I click play video the BIS drops out.Normally I would go into the connection settings turn all off then turn on again but as I get into the menu the BIS returns. I can search youtube no problem but everytime I want to play it drops! All other parts of the phone are working as expected, facebook, email, BBM etc Is this a bug with youtube player
I have a BlackBerry Bold 9700, I have WiFi Internet in my Home and Office, I Installed Yahoo MSG, Google Talk, Windows Live from BB website, but when I click on sign in button on all of these Instant messaging, and error displayed. "Service not Enabled for this handheld". I don't have any Data Plan on my Sim card, but I still have WiFi Internet and I can browse with my BlackBerry.
I just got my BB Bold 9700 last week. I used the BB Desktop manager to copy some Word and Excel documents from my laptop to the media card on my 9700. That worked fine. However, when I try to open them on the 9700, I get the following message: when entering a remote share: //host/share as a minimum, optionally add [/folder [/ folder ...]][filename] Could someone please show me an example of what they mean and how to do it?
I have the new bold 9700, and I pulled the battery to reset the bb because it wasn't deleting pictures. The pictures were fixed but the LED light that flashes when there's an alert won't stop flashing. It flashes red several times then stops for a minute or two then flashes again. Does anyone know how to fix this so it will stop flashing? I've tried to pull the battery again and even just reset the phone but it won't stop its driving me insane!

I just got the 9700 from rogers today, upgraded from the 9000 bold.I basically backed up my 9000 using desktop manager and restored on to the 9700, everything works fine, bbm, browsing, but I cant receive email or send. I tried setting up every different way. My emails are registered on the rogers BIS, and i got the message saying that it will start working after 20 minutes however it is still not working any idea?
I switched data from my old device Storm 9500 to my new device BB bold 9700 using the newest BB desktop manager. After data got switched I got a small popup asking me do i want to delete data from my old blackberry.... I said yes (why not)... So my new bold 9700 got wiped ?! somehow. After i used the auto backup file created which had data from the Storm device to "restore" data to bold 9700 once again it just got the ipd backup file which had loads of messages..... overwritten and i lost the data from the Storm entirely. Can i get it back anyhow. I tried some undelete software... but no luck so far... appart from recovering a few images...
I have an unbranded blackberry bold 9700, i have connected to wifi at home, and can browse the internet, but for some reason, i do not have uma. I live in an area with no network connection, and the reason for purchasing the blackberry bold 9700, was to have full network connection, via wifi, to make and recieve phone calls and txts. Is there a way of having UMA on my phone? would i be able to download something to set it up? something from orange?
I'm on my 2nd Bold 9700 in 4 days... The wireless connection is working fine outside and in some parts of my work building..but not in my office... Talked to our IT group and they don't get why i wouldn't get wireless because we have "booster's" through out the facility.I went from a bb 8703e (which i had no issues with for 3yrs) to a bold 9700 _ love the phone but not if i can't retrieve emails, internet..etc.
Got my first BB, it's the 9700 and I believe that as my company do not have BES, I have to login to my BIS via a computer to setup my work e mail (Microsoft Exchange Server). After reading about this and attempting it, I get an error message on my provider's website which basically means that I have to change the login mode for a BlackBerry Internet Service account. I have checked out Blackberry's website and the instructions do not work for my 9700.
Just switched from a bold 9700 to bold 9900. Our mobile signal is extremely limited since we're out in the country so wifi is essential here.On my 9700, wifi worked perfectly with all applications but that doesn't appear to be the case with the bold 9900. Several apps are extremely slow or don't work at all. I think the reason for this is the 9900 isn't using wifi for some apps. I believe some apps are using wifi such as the browser and facebook but app world, google maps, scoremobile, whatsapp and tunein radio to name a few don't appear to be using wifi at all.
I went to set up my email for the first time I selected the enterprise server option by mistake. Now when I go back to email setup that is the only option that I have available for setting up email on my BB Bold 9700. Is there a fix that will allow me to get my hotmail and yahoo email accounts set up on my BB without having to take it to a service provider? I just updated my software on my phone today and that did not fix my problem.
Can anyone help me? I am trying to tether my BB Bold 9700 to windows 7. I have unl data plan but not "tethering". My BB desktop software does not have the modem feature. Is there a way to do it? If so how?
I activated my new BB Bold 9700 yesterday and everything was fine until this morning. I plugged my device into my laptop to setup the BB Desktop software and when I unplugged it a short while later, I noticed I no longer had a text messaging icon on my homescreen, or in my tray. I can still recieve/send text messages, but I can't find my inbox anywhere.
I'm a current owner of the BB 9700 Bold 2 (for private purposes only) and I love the keyboard and the (email) software overall. However, I somehow dislike the overall build quality .I want to buy another BB - the Storm 2. Will I be satisfied with the Storm 2 by means of typing speed and build quality? What are the other main differences between those two BBs (besides the obvious ). And moreover: Should I buy the Storm 2 now or should I wait for a newer device?!
I have a bb 9700 (v126.96.36.1996) often when using the browser it stops working it just says loading (like when loading a normal page) but never loads any page. When I remove and put the battery back the browser works as normal.is there any way to sort out the problem without re booting the phone.(The phone has the original software, I never updated any software)

My wife is wanting the new ATT Blackberry Bold 9700. We would be buying this locally (not upgrading through ATT). She does not want to get a data plan and would only be using data in WiFi hotspots. Is this possible? Being that Blackberry goes thru BIS, could she only use data in WiFi areas or do all Blackberrys have to have the data plan to use WiFi as well? She currently has an 8310 and wants another BB for it's texting and speakerphone.
I just got a new BB Bold 9700 from the UK and had it sent to me in Iraq. I've connected to my home wifi, which i used to do with my old BB to use the BBM service, but for some reason my new BB won't connect to the internet even though it is connected to my wifi. My laptop is connected to the internet through the wifi and there doesn't seem to be any problems with conflicting IP addresses or anything like that so i don't know why my BB won't connect to the internet. Could it be that my BB wasn't registered while it was in the UK or anything like that? Or is there another reason?
its been a month and still my blackberry bold 9700 internet is not working good.everytime when im using it , it'll work but if i didnt use it for awhile , it'll stop working . everytime i try to anysite, it'll be like loading but than it'll close the tab and put me back to homepage and bookmarks.everytime i have to restart my bb than i can use it again, maybe like everyday upto 10times i had 2 restart the fone which kills my battery very fast?
I recently got a bold 9700 replacing my disfunction old bold 9700. The new OS6 makes it so different. I need to read emails in Chinese . I downloaded and installed Blackberry Desktop Software version 6.0 multi-language. When go to Applications, there are only 7 applications listed. I couldn't find the "East Asian Character and Font Suppor" that I used to add to my old bold 9700.

The trackpath on my Bold 9700 slowly stopped working. First when I for example wanted to scroll right it randomly went left, up, down and sometimes right. Over 2 days it got worse and now it completely stopped. Also what I typed was displayed with a delay. Looks like a virus I'm afraid. Somebody any advice what to do (please take in mind that I cannot use my my trackpath so whatever needs to be done need to be via laptop / BlackBerry Desktop software)
I have set my alarm on my BB bold 9700 and set the volume to escalating and it will not work. I have wiped and restored my BB and pulled out my battery. Still nothing works! I have also tried trying different sounds like BB sounds, ring tones and music it still does not work!
I just purchased a new Bold 2 (9700), and I found out that the thing is showing all decimal points as "decimal commas". I'm in Mexico, not Spain, and we use the US decimal point system, that is using decimal POINTS and not COMMAS. How can I switch the BB to use commas? This wasn't a problem on BB OS 4.6 on the Bold 9000... in fact, this is the first time I see my BB using the goofy comma system.
My Bold 9700 will not back up (via BB Desktop) and will not, as a result, upgrade to the latest version of OS6.It starts off OK, but by halfway through it says there is a problem and that BB Desktop is disconnecting. Only this just leaves the phone hung and all I can do to get the phone back is a battery pull.I have a Bold 9900 coming tomorrow, so unless i get this fixed I am going to have problems upgrading to the new Bold.
I use a Curve 8310 as my work BB (through an enterprise server) and recently acquired a Bold 9700 for my personal email accounts. I used the "Switch Device" option on my BB Desktop Manager, to trasfer contacts from my work BB to the 9700. All this was a breeze. Unfortunately what this also did was transfer my work email folders (all archive folders) on to the 9700. So in the email application on the 9700, if I select "View Folder" from the menu key, I see a whole bunch of archive folders. I have no use for these folders on the 9700 but cannot find a way to delete them.Is there a way that I can delete all these redundant email archive folders from the 9700?
BB Desktop Manager version: 188.8.131.52 BB Bold 9700 OS version: 184.108.40.2060 (Platform 220.127.116.11) My Outlook Calendar sync is already set set at Two Way sync but nothing is being moved between the Outlook and the Bold 9700. When syncing I don't get any error or warning messages, but I don't get prompted to confirm additions or deletions to my Calendar either. This had worked before but then it suddenly stopped working. My Outlook Contacts sync is working fine. When syncing I only see the Contacts are being synced but not the Calendar items.
We just got new Bold 9700 handsets. We have set them up with our bes server and changed our bis accounts (hotmail + other) and the phone is now receiving email from all accounts correctly. The problem is all the mail is going into one "inbox" on the handset. Previously we had the bes email going to seperate bis inboxes and the bes account going to its own seperate inbox. As below At the moment everything is going into the one envelope inbox.Any idea's?

My bb bold 9700 is dead I tried to install os 6.0 but it wont work with apploader nor desktop software it returns a error at loading module stage.
I updated my Bold 9700 to OS 6.0 bundle 2475 . I'm using my phone connected to a wifi router that worked fine before update but now is unable to communicate. The connection is ok (I can select my network in the list and the phone is connected) but the "Blackberry" icon doesn't appear on the main screen near the wifi icon and it's impossible to connect the phone to Internet or email. Using 3G connection all work fine but I'm abroad and normally I use this wifi network on my apartment that works fine (I'm also using an iPhone that works great, it means that the network is ok).
Had a quick question that I was hoping someone could help me with.. did an OS on my Rogers BB 8900 and now I can no longer connect to BIS via Wifi. I should also mention I'm out of my providers service area and only get partial gsm service (no data). I presume I can't connect to BIS via Wifi because it needs to 'activate' against my providers BB servers.. in the past I've fixed this when traveling to a location that's in service (even for just a minute) and then I'm fine over wifi. That isn't really an option for me right now so I was wondering if anyone knew of a way that I could force my BB to start connecting to BIS over wifi? Driving me a little mad and I'm not heading to an area with coverage for a few weeks.

The only problem i am facing is , that when i use desktop manager 6 to find updates for my phone, it says no update found. and when i click on view other versions , it shows os6 , but im unable to update as it says " only active blackberry service subscribers are entitled to install this blackberry device software upgrade " , now i DONT have a Data plan on my bold ! just using wifi to browse the net.. is this the reason why it is unable to update ? my brother has bb 9780, he updated without any problems to new bundle of os 6 ! even he doesnt have a data plan !please guide me ! i saw many links for the leaked version, but i want the official update only ! i downloaded desktop manager from blackberry site.
Got my bb about 2 months ago and everything's working fine until today i couldnt retrieve email on my bb. i tried to reboot (hard) and reformat my phone but each time when i tried to reset the email settings, a message "your device had a problem connecting to the server" will appear.i'm using a bb bold 9700 currently.
Can anyone tell me whether I can download podcasts from my windows hard disk to the BB bold 9700 without passing through BB desktop or media manager? and if so, how? 'moving' or 'copying' the podcast files directly to the BB external drive shown on 'my computer' doesn't seem to work.
I have a BB Bold connected to Vodafone, I do not have the BIS service connected as the SIM is a company sim, and they are deciding whether to give me this service (pay scale etc etc). What I did in the past was to configure my iPhone to except emails via pop that I setup in my MS outlook (rule forwarding) so i was not using the BB Enterprise service. I belived the the BB was the same until I found out it needs this BIS to get pop emails, what a pain. Am I correct in saying that only the provider can turn this service on. And also as I have not got BIS running does that also mean I am not getting WIFI?
I will be going on vacation and to avoid the ridiculous roaming data charges, was wondering how I can connect to BIS over wifi? I have a BB data plan with my carrier (Rogers). I just want to be able to receive e-mails and use BBM when I'm connected via wifi while I'm away. I'm guessing that if I set "Data Services" to On and "While Roaming" to Off, under Mobile Network Options, this would NOT work, correct? Or am I mistaken?
I have a BB 9700 and its my first BB phone.I can not transfer any files, phone number or documents to my BB 9700.I have 3 other phones and can transfer files between them also using my PC which has a Bluetooth dongle but not to the BB 9700. I can send files from my BB 9700 but just can't receive.I have done all the basic like paired the devises and selected YES on Trusted I called T-mobile and they said they don't support the Bluetooth on BB and that the Bluetooth on most BB are rubbish and a lot of people have problems with it.
Unlocked blackberry bold 9700 (v18.104.22.1685, Platform 22.214.171.124) I've had for about 9 months now. Tried to connect to wifi in an airport without success and deletetd the profile. I've never used the wifi before and don't plan on using it again. Now I can't get rid of the inactive grey wifi icon on my homescreen, and occasionally I find my phone connected to AT&T public wifi in random places. I've tried restoring default wifi settings to no avail.
I bought a second hand bb 9700 3 months ago. I had the phone on pre-paid BIS + Airtime so I could have access to the internet, bb messenger, gmail email, and phone-related uses. The phone worked fine with no issues whatsoever. Last week, I tried calling someone and received the message - Call Failed. I thought it was credit so I tried loading airtime on the phone. When I did that I received the following message: Supplementary Service Error: General Error. It's been 1.5 weeks and still the phone does not work: The phone has perfect coverage indicator. The phone has working BIS, BB messenger and internet. The phone cannot work the telephony part of it - calls (outgoing/incoming, SMS, MMS). I cannot call anyone, cannot check Voicemail, cannot load airtime. I have tried re-sending service books, hard reset pulling the battery out, manually registering with the wireless network.
I recently switched from bold 9700 to torch 9860. I setup my msn and gmail account on my Blackberry and it worked fine until I activated enterprise email account. Both msn and gmail 's icon dispeared and i don't get emails pushed to my blackberry any more. I already erased both msn and gmail accounts on BB and re-setup, doesn't make a difference. the msn worked fine on my 9700 until i switch.
I have a blackberry 9700 with BIS which I've just upgraded the software from OS5 to OS6, I'm having a problem opening and downloading any music and videos from the internet, I can browse through perfect but when I try to save it takes forever to download 1 percent and then says failed, I previously had this problem with the OS5 software as well, it used to work fine when I first got the phone but recently started failing to download so I upgraded to OS6 and the problem is still the same, there is nothing wrong with my memory card as I've tried with another memory card and the problem still continues.
