it is giving me fixed hard drive park error 0200: I opened it up, looked at the IDE connectors very closely and they are good, tried 4 drives so far, run LIVE Linux fine as long as there is no hard drive in, the thing is, It does shows the drives in BIOS thou, and using F12 boot menu, hard drive is in the option.
I'm trying to install Vista on a new hard drive for a Acer Aspire 5100. From what I researched, I believe I need to create the PQSERVICE partition. I'm trying to retrieve the 'Post Acer Disk Formatter CD ISO Image'. I believe it is a file named 'Diskformatdt_v1-1d.iso'. I read some of the threads on this website about how to retrieve the file from Acer's website,......................
I Have an acer aspire 5100 but when to format hard drive and do full recovery but nothing went on the disc does any one have a copy of the recovery disc to help me out amd turion 64 mobile 1gb ram 80g hard drive
I have an Acer Aspire 5100 series laptop running Windows XP home. Was wanting to use eRecovery Manager to make a full backup of my current system. I have two hard drive partitions, both 60GB in size. The C drive is almost full (onky 9GB free) but the D drive has 47.9GB free. On the "Make Backup Image" page it says that the estimated image size will be 43.96GB, and it shows the free space of the D drive as space available. The problem is that no matter what I put in for the Name of the backup, and no matter the number of characters in the save name, the program fails almost immediately with the following error: Code: it41 Too long directory path! Error Backup is failed Error code = 0xF0000014 what I can do to fix it?
ive been having hard drive trouble where it says hard drive failure iminent. but I don't think that's my problem. My internet lags so bad on my aspire 5100, like when im trying to watch a streaming video it loads 3 seconds then stops, loads 3 seconds then stops. But when I plug my wifes dell laptop or my desktop into the same connection theres no lag at all. Would this have anything to do with my hard drive?
i have an Acer aspire 5100 with dual core 1.6 cpu (laptop not working) and an Acer aspire 5100 single core 2.0ghz cpu (working), the question is can i put the dual core straight into the single core without any problems also would it be worth doing it?
I want to upgrade the hard drive in my Acer 4720 But i am confused with the hard drive types, the hard drives in my Acer4720 and D620 look different to the hard drive in my older C300 ... the Acer c300 has like pins where the hard drive connects to the computer whereas the ones on the dell and the 4720 look totaly different. what is this "Different" drive called so that I can order the correct one?

My acer 5100 came with vista and I'm trying to do a fresh install of XP SP2 on it. After I get past the partitioning part in the install process, it goes on to the "installing windows" stage and shuts off midway. This has been happening a few times and after some googling, reckoned it has to do with the SATA hard drive. I tried to get on Bios and change the SATA to IDE but I didnt find any modifiable property for the hard drive on BIOS I'm wondering some of you folks who installed XP on a vista laptop got it done.
My son has an Acer 5100 series laptop. His friend decided to install Windows XP over Vista because he thought that it would make the laptop run faster. It crashed. Once past the initial Acer screen it just goes to a black screen. I had someone check it out for me and they said that the original recovery system that would have been partitioned on the hard drive has been wiped out. I need a recovery CD for this laptop but the serial number on the sticker on the back is very faded and not legible. The product key for Microsoft is still in tact though.
I using an ACER Aspire 7520 Laptop. I have desktop internal hard-drive that I use as an external hard-drive via usb/sata cable. Recently I cloned my Internal laptop hard drive to the desktop internal hard drive that I mentioned above, but the problem is that whenever I connect the desktop hard-disk again to my laptop via usb/sata calbe the drive doesn't show up, it is detected by the BIOS and Windows Device manager but it doesn't show up along my laptop internal hard drive with an independent letter like it used to before I made the cloning.
I have an Acer 1350, when I press the power button the CPU fan comes on for five seconds or so, but the screen doesn't come on, and the hard drive doesn't seek. If I leave it on, after a few minutes the CPU fan comes on again, so obviously part of it is working, but it just won't boot up. The screen is definitely working fine because I've tested it on another Acer 1350, the hard drive is fine as well, also tested on another Acer 1350, the memory is fine, ditto.
I have this acer aspire 5100 laptop, it came from factory with Windows Xp media center. Later, i've updated to vista, but now i would like to go back to Xp... I've heard about this OEM partition that keeps the originalsl files, i was wondering if i could reinstal the original OS from this OEM thing, since i don't have any backup, or recovery cd provided by acer...
That is, the wifi connection randomly disconnects and reconnects, which is especially annoying when she is on MSN or whenever she is logged on to a HTTPS site (she has to log in again on the next refresh). maybe Acer has a new driver for the 5100? the OS installed is the factory Vista (with the usual bloatware - I deleted most of them). Can deleting certain Acer bloatware cause wifi issues?

I just loaded Ubuntu 11.04 onto Acer Aspire 5100 computer. I can access the internet through Firefox when I connect ethernet lan cable but it doesn't work when I use wireless connection. Although I do get the indicator in top right that says my wireless connection was established. Why I can't access internet with Firefox in wireless mode? I tried toggling the wireless switch in front of Acer but that didn't work.

I have an acer aspire 5100, it came with 1 gig and I upgraded the memory to 2 gig about 2 years ago. and last week went up to 4 gig. all the paper work and even acer says 4 gig is the max, but the comp only uses 2 of it, how ever the comp knows all 4 of it is there in bios and under the properties tab for the computer im running 32bit vista home premium SP1, with an AMD turion 64 mobile 2.20ghz processor

i uninstalled acer empowering technology with the intention of reinstalling it afterwards. it had been laggy and closed spontaneously for a while, so i was going to download it again from acer support. i got rid of all the components, went to the website, and downloaded it. after installation completed it said something about WMIAcercheck.exe not working. i tried to boot it up, and it said exception message: and then it said sorry! not an acer system. however, my computer is clearly an acer system. it's an acer aspire 5100. i neeeed acer empowering tech to hook up to the internet, it's extremely slow to do it another way.
I've recently decided to migrate the infrastructure in my workplace from ubuntu to fedora, every thing except the printers went perfectly. When I try to print as an user It just throws an generic error and stops, as a root it doesn't even show the error. My wife has an Acer Aspire 5610 laptop, on 3 seporate occasions I've tried installing ubuntu 9.10, 10.04 and mint 9 all 32 bit and I keep coming up with error messages and have to abort install. Unfortunately I didn't write down the error messages and the last time i tried i had to use gparted to resize the hard drive back to where it was (160 GB). I even had trouble with that but finally got that working right. Is there a none issue with Acer that I'm not aware of?
I'm going to have to pop a larger hard drive in this Macbook (2007) to buy a little time before I replace the computer. Does anyone know if my Macbook's sudden motion sensor can work with *any* replacement hard drive to tell that drive to park its heads in the event of a drop? Or does that only work with certain ones?

I have an acer 5620z and the hard drive died. I replaced the hard drive and I have recovery cd's but I can't use them as it looks for partitions. I have read that I need to partition the hard drive first so I downloaded the DiskFormatDT_V1-1D.iso and installed it. during the process it didn't see the hard drive but it ran through with no errors (by the way the bios does see the hard drive). After the disk format cd I tried the recovery cds and I get the 'no partition found error' so i am stuck. i know there is the PQService but I don't know what to do as I need to be able to partition the drive so i can run recovery cds. As it is a new disk Alt F10 etc wont work.
i spilt horlicks on my dell inspiron 5100 and i did as the manual said and dried components such as the battery, hard drive etc and switched it off and allowed it dry for 24 hous later and only the light comes on. i am just worried as i have a lot of documents on that computer and it has been working for 5 yrs without incident.
When I strart my laptop it will show the Acer screen with the F2 F12 options then goes black with cursor in upper left corner and when windows should load it goes back to acer screen and will keep doing this till I smack it on the side then it will load windows and run normally. I created a disk image, bought a ner hard drive, loaded my image onto the new hard drive and it worked fine for a couple hours of starting and shutting down. Then it started doing it again ...
1. My sister has a Dell Dimension 5100 desktop computer with Windows XP from the factory. Can I put the Windows 7 UPGRADE version on a second hard drive in her machine? Is this OK or do I need the 'FULL' version? 2. Is this automatically going to create two options when booting the machine, giving her the options to boot either into XP or W7?

After loading Ubuntu 10.10 on an Acer Aspire 5100, I find that the onboard LAN does not work. My router "sees" the laptop but my laptop does not "see" the router. Ubuntu says that the firmware is not installed. I read earlier posts about an issue with Broadcom and later editions of Ubuntu but I haven't seen a definitive fix. With the LAN not working, it is not possible to connect to the Internet and further compounds the problem. My understanding is that the Acer Aspire 5100 uses a Broadcom LAN. How can I install the firmware that it is asking for?
So I tried to install Ubuntu on my Acer Aspire ASE380 desktop, and I think during the partition portion. I think I messed up the hard drive. Now my computer won't recognize my hard drive. I've tried using the acer repair disks I made, I tried unplugging and checking all the cords and lines, I tired flashing the BIOS, I've tried using other boot disks like Ultimate boot CD, and Acer support is no help either. I really don't know what to do now. It shows nothing in the boot setup or the BIOS set up. I've also tired the ALT - F10 for acer computers to enter and repair partition and nothing. I just want to get this thing up and running. I'm tempted to just buy a new hard drive.
On my HDX 18 , X18 - 1374ca it came with two hard drives, without me ripping it open, which side is the C drive mounted as I sit at the laptop? Only asking because I applied the QuietHDD program to stop the clacking from the heads parking on these two Seagate ST9500420AS. It seems to work on one but not both. The drive on the right keeps clacking on and off all the time, annoying! But I have lots running and downloading torrents on the D drive (second hard drive) and constantly using the C drive opening and doing stuff yet theres always clacking, I don't know where it finds the time to decide to park the heads when I am using it and its not idle.
I'm attempting to dual boot Windows7x64 7100 with the Vistax64 i currently have installed on my Acer Aspire 5100. I have created a new simple volume partition of 16GB on my drive and have attempted to do a clean install on this drive using the Windows 7 iso DVD I made. The files are all extracted, updates are installed and everything runs smoothly until after the system has restarted during the installation, launching Windows 7 where it attempts to "finalize" or "complete" installation. The progress bar gradually makes its way towards completion when all of a sudden it tells me that "Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration. Installation cannot proceed." I have read many forums offering advice on this error with no success for my problem. I have attempted the registry fix with PartMgr, which didn't need to be fixed in the first place and have also attempted installation with Norton Antivirus uninstalled. Each with no success.
Is there a command to explicitly park the heads of a particular hard drive? I have a hot swap tray and want to issue commands to sync and park heads before removal.
I have an Acer 5100 complete with the godforsaken Matshita UJ-850s DVD recorder drive, and a few months ago, it started not showing up in Windows at random times. It stopped showing up altogether a month or so ago. I've done the registry edit suggested for this drive, as well as opened up the computer to check the connection to the motherboard. The drive light comes on when a disc is inserted or when the eject button is pushed, but nothing registers in Windows. In addition, the drive doesn't show up in BIOS setup.
any opinions on the Seagate Momentus 7200.4 500gb st9500420asg hard drive when used in an acer 6935g. I am looking to replace my existing hitachi 250gb hard drive with the seagate, for when i upgrade the os to win 7 pro 64bit. I am interested in the following aspects: - Hard drive speed in real world use, ie is the laptop noticeably faster in use and in booting up, shutting down? Yes, i know it is 7200 compared to the 5400 but does the speed actually make a difference..? - Power (battery) useage, is there much reduction in battery life (20 minutes or more)? -noise, is it noiser than the stock hdd, if so is it annoyingly noisy? I have done my research on the web and in some reviews it is highly rated but in another they recommend the wd scorpio blue and in another the equivalent hitachi. So that is why i am asking here for peoples actual experience of the drive in an acer 6935g or similar acer laptop and not relying on the tests done with some other pc rig that they used.
I just got a brand new macbook pro 15 inch 2.53 ghz with the 250 gb, 5400 rpm hard drive. It sound like hard drive is parking and unparking (clicking) a lot when the computer is a idle or just sitting at the desk top. Is this normal, and how do you stop it?

ACER 2423 confirmed dead. The hard drive should have recoverable files and I want to access them. I put the drive into a USB external enclosure and my desktop can see the drive and its partitions. It will not however read any files. Does ACER have a software code or something that prevents this?
I bought the Acer Aspire e5-571-55TL, which has no optical drive. It just has a plastic blank in it. I want to install an SSD in the optical drive, through the use of a hard drive caddy. I can't find any information on compatible products, or where to find the proper part. Would either of these work? This one says it's for the Acer Aspire E5-572G E1-572 Series: [URL] Or this one? Recently, I got an Acer z5610 AllInOne computer.Everything is installed and working fine. The problem I have now, is that I need to install a second hard drive(64 bit SSD)I opened the case, installed the drive, and windows recognised it immediately. Now I want to change the system from old HDD to the new SSD. Is there a shortcut? Acer eRecovery doesn't seem to support system drive change.
Problem-- When you Turn on my acer 5315 laptop a blank black screen comes up after the acer logo appears. If you press any key a loud beep noice sounds. Solutions I have Tried-- Well i started with using the preloaded restore to factory defults and I got an error message at about 99 percent. The error was- Restore Failed- Reason oxd0000001d - or close to that. I figured maybe the backup partiton was screwed up so I pulled out the old recovery cd's I purchased from acer. The same thing showed up. I then figured i should call acer. I called and they told me to use the acer post disk formatter. I tried that and it still did not help the problem. I have no where else to turn so thougt maybe you guys could help. By the way This is some of my system specs-- Acer 5315- Hitachi 80GB hard drive- Windows Vista Basic
I was given a laptop aspire v5-122p and the ALT+F12 for internal recovery is not working. The hard drive and partition seems corrupted and damaged. Windows 8 try to start but a message says there was something wrong and that it will try to fix fit but it restart and do the same in a loop. I scanned the hard drive with an application that let me run it from a usb bootable flash drive. The hard drive came with sector errors. If i install a new hard drive, can i order an erecovery disc and install everything or do i have to do something special? i read somewhere that clean hard drives need to be prepared first with another set of tools provided by Acer. The tools provided in the link are in an ISO named "Format CD".
I have an ACER ASPIRE 5755 laptop with 4GB RAM and 500 GB Disk. Now the issue I am facing is, it doesn't boot up. It just sits at a screen for sometime and then even if we reboot it goes to the same screen which is much prior to loading Windows and I believe just after the POST. I checked in the BIOS that hard-drive was not getting detected. I unplugged replugged ..took it out, put it back in but nothing worked. Than I removed that hard-drive and replaced it with a working hard-drive of my fren's & eventually it booted up fine. Hence this isolates to be an issue with the hard drive. Now my question is that, "is there any upper limit on the size of the hard-drive (as the inboxed one was 500GB)". I am planning to take 1TB hard drive. So will that work In addition to this, is there any link provided by Acer which I can browse and check what all Hard-drives are supported / compatible / recommended by Acer. I have been a big fan of Acer Laptops from a long time and would not want to buy a new laptop just because of this simple hard drive issue.
my laptop acer aspire doesnt recognize my external hard drive in windows7. I will be great ful to them. it doesn't show any external hard drive but it shows pen drive and mobile usb cable but not external hard disk
I have an Aspire One with Linux operating system. I have an external hard drive that I want to save data to from my Aspire One however when I try I get a message that the external hard drive is full. I know it isn't full and when I use the external hard drive on my other pc with Window 7 it is fine. I am assuming my problem is something to do with the ACER Aspire One
I'm trying to recover my friend's Aspire 5100 to factory default. I booted with the factory default CDs he had made. The problem i'm having is that when Vista starts up and the Acer programs are being installed (a 5 step process) the installation seems to freeze on step 4 (the eRecovery installation part) I rebooted the computer and now when vista starts it begins trying to install the remaining 2 stages of the ACER setup. Is there someway around this problem. Basically, I'm wondering if i can eliminate this process and just install that stuff manually. Vista seems to have reinstalled fine, but i don't know how to get around the ACER setup. I wrote Acer about the problem and all they could suggest was using the recovery on the hidden partition, which i'm pretty sure isn't there.
I'm An Acer Aspire 6930G user and it has vista home premium installed as OS. I have a Acer inspire 5100 series laptop. Today I went out and bought a dual thingy of ram for it. I flipped the computer over and opened what I thought was the door that led to the ram, but just had a big silver immovable protector thing over it. I felt this was it, since the other things I can unscrew on the bottom will take off almost the entire bottom of the computer. Where do I install the ram?
I have an Acer 5100 and the touch pad has died ( including all the buttons ). Was perfect one day , turned it on the next day and it was dead. I'm surviving on an old IBM mouse plugged into USB port at present. Have checked the mouse properties and it says it is working properly ( which it obviously isn't ) . Have uninstalled and re-installed including checking for latest driver on line . The mouse properties still tell me everything is working properly .
bought a 2nd user aspire 5100. Installed xp , acer drivers etc and all ok till a few weeks later didn't recognise h/d at times ! this got worse ..even not recognised in bios (my bios is version 1.4,)! this got to a stage where wouldn't boot so bought a new h/d and installed xp/drivers again etc etc 2 days later, started getting 'blue screen of death ' and 0x000000f4 ( 0x00000003, 0x8473ADAO,etc ) Switched of and rebooted , ok for a few hrs then same again ...today wouldn't stay on for more than 15mins before blue screening!

I have a laptop Acer aspire 5100. I installed Ubuntu a while ago and it was working well. Last week I updated it using Update manager and ever since I haven't been able to connect either wireless or wired connection. I get this: Code: The wireless card seems to have disappeared. I reinstalled Ubuntu and the problem persists.
I know there have been other post regarding the same situation but i still haven't found a way to transfer videos from my iPhone to my computer. I'm using Windows XP on a Dell computer so i don't access to a mac. I have tried using the Microsoft Scanner & Camera Wizard to transfer and also double clicking the iphone 4 in "my computer" and moving the video to my desktop but neither of those ideas worked. Any one have any other suggestions? Information: acer 5100 Windows XP
I wonder if i can use expresscard/34 in a expresscard/54 on an Acer Aspire 6935G? Someone who has tried? I am looking for a better network card than the one sitting in my computer (Intel 5100 HUSK) not functioning fully, can not get the 150-270 Mbit / s. but it's on 65 Mbit / s.
I've been running Ubuntu on my Acer 5100 laptop for about a year and a half. The latest version I had was 10.10 when my disk crashed and burned and had to be replaced. This was an external hard drive as my internal one died long ago and I'm too lazy to replace it. So things were fine until the crash. Bought a new hard drive today (same brand and model as the one the system was installed on before), downloaded 10.10 and installation goes fine. Then, in the end, I am told 'you need to reboot in order to use your new system'. So I say yes and the system ejects the CD-ROM and starts the shutdown process. Then it gets to doing something with the CD-ROM (/sr0) and it gets an IO error. Of course this is because the thing was ejected! So I get this loooong list of IO errors (all the same) on device sr0 and I have to manually reboot the system by the power button. The system starts to come up, I see the BIOS hit the external drive, and nothing. It sits there with a blinking cursor at the top left of the screen and does nothing. Now, I've looked at a few things: 1: I've made sure the external drive is the first boot device. 2. I've made sure the disk was actually good and not damaged. 3. I've made sure the ISO I downloaded has the same hash as the one I got I've even tried the install on ANOTHER drive and the same thing happens! I know 10.10 can run on this system as it HAS in the past with no problems at all.
I have already tried everything on this thread [URL] I have an Acer Aspire 5100, I haven't posted my results from Code: lspci | grep graph yet. I will ASAP when I get to that laptop tonight. I am currently studying Programming at a local Tech school, the current language I am learning is C#.
I have an Acer Aspire 6930 laptop that I'm setting up for my wife with Debian Lenny. It has an Intel 5100 wireless card. I'd like to get a driver for the card without having to install a new kernel.
